DEXTER - The funeral for the Rev. Timothy J. Grant, 48, Dexter, associate pastor at Faith Fellowship Church, Watertown, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Fellowship Church with the Rev. Michael Bartholomew, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

The Rev. Mr. Grant died at 3:44 pm Monday (November 26, 2001) in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.  An autopsy conducted on Tuesday by the Jefferson County medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a heart attack brought on by cardiac arrhythmia.

The church will be open for calling hours from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Rev. Mr. Grant was a musician with several north country groups, including the Bob Kissell Band, Moondance, Tanglewood, and High Life, performing rock, dance and folk music.  He also performed solo for many years.

He moved to Arizona in 1981 and performed as a soloist and with several popular music groups.  He began to refocus his music after becoming a Christian in 1985, when he returned to Watertown and continued his music as a contemporary Christian musician.  He founded Heart Reach Ministries, which enabled him to carry on his music ministry throughout the United States and overseas.

He also traveled with several other north country residents to Turkey for two weeks and performed original contemporary Christian songs in concert.

He played and sang his music in churches of many denominations, and was the opening act for the Beach Boys concert sponsored by the Disabled Persons Action Organization in 1994.

He released three contemporary Christian music recordings: "Free Delivery" (later re-released as "Spirit to Spirit") in 1991, "Song of Adoption" in 1995, and "Favorite Song of All" in 1998.

Born September 15, 1953, in Watertown, son of Jerry and Flora Mecomonaco Grant, he graduated from Immaculate Heart Central School in 1971, and received an associate's degree in music in 1973 from Onondaga Community College, Syracuse, where he majored in classical guitar.  While at OCC, he was president of the college choir.  He also studied music at Crane School of Music at Potsdam State University College.

He married Mary E. Lehman Kingsley on October 7, 1995.  His first marriage, to Anne M. Pike, ended in divorce.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Cory Lyn Grant, Rochester, and Jeri C. Grant, Watertown, a stepdaughter, Cristin Barnett, Washington, D.C., a stepson, Jeffrey Barnett, Anchorage, Alaska, two brothers, Michael J. Grant, Great Bend, and Gary S. Grant, Sackets Harbor, two sisters, Claudia J. Paddock, Chandler, Arizona, and Mary-Anne Collins, Mesa, Arizona, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
