I moved from a convenience store to a garden shop and learned how to use a forklift and pallet jack to load and unload trucks and cars. I also was involved in all of the inventories there.
-
My 3rd position was as a forklift driver on the receiving dock of the retail warehouse.
Here;
- I unloaded trucks using manual and power equipment,
- making sure that the freight bills matched the merchandise received,
- noting any damages, shortages, or overages.
From the receiving dock I went inside has a puller forklift driver;

At this time I learned to use the computer

I was a forklift driver for 7 years between 1980 and 1987.
- In May of 1987 I became a delivery driver.
I drove a single body truck that required a class B license.
I made deliveries to stores on base and to San Diego.
- Using manual and power equipment I loaded and unloaded the truck
- ensured that the delivery was correct; the right address, right merchandise, the correct price, and the right amount
- assisted in inventories,
- the setting up and taking down of special event displays.
I also moved whatever was required ensuring that it is done safely.
Begining on July 10th, 2000 I retired from the Marine Corps Exchane and started working for the Oceanside Unified School District.
