Steven Burnett

Originally from Beckley, WV, Steve Burnett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Marshall University, and a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Florida. Mr. Burnett is also a composer and arranger, and his music has been featured by instrumental and choral ensembles at high schools, universities and churches throughout the United States, as well as at Lincoln Amphitheatre and Theatre West Virginia. His compositions and arrangements for band and chorus are published by Carl Fischer, Hinshaw Music, Walton Music, Colla Voce Music and Jalen Publishing, and can be found in the database at J. W. Pepper. His arrangements for marching and pep band have been featured at such events as the 1998 Peach Bowl, the 1999 Orange Bowl, the 2000 Citrus Bowl, the 1998 AFC Wildcard Game, and the 2000 NCAA National Championship Men's Basketball Game. Mr. Burnett has served in various capacities at Lincoln Amphitheatre and Theatre West Virginia, including actor, singer, music director, tour director and puppeteer. He is also an avid scriptwriter, having penned the one act play THE OWL, which was presented at the Professional Theatre Workshop of the Lost Colony, and the radio dramas GAFFE'S TRAIL (1994 and 1996 National Broadcasting Society - Alpha Epsilon Rho Awards for Scriptwriting and Production; 1995 Marconi Radio Award for Production) and MURDER IN REAL CITY (1993 National Broadcasting Society Award - Honorable Mention), both produced by the Theatre of the Air and premiered on WMUL-FM, Huntington, WV. Additionally, he is a trained stage combatant and has certified with the Society of American Fight Directors. Steve is the former Director of Bands at Tolsia High School in Glenhayes, WV. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Kappa Kappa Psi (Honorary), Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda, Alpha Psi Omega, MENC, WVMEA, Tri-M, and the Southeastern Theatre Conference, and is listed in WHO'S WHO AMONG AMERICA'S TEACHERS. He currently resides in New York City with his wife, the actress Michele Goodson-Burnett.
