DR. JAMES CURRIE'S LIVERPOOL
Dr. James Currie (1765-1805) was born in Annan, Dumfries. A friend of Robert Burns, he was approached by the Scottish poets family to write a biography following his death in 1796. This was published in 1800 and raised over £1400 for Burns widow.

Curries medical profession had brought him to Liverpool, where he practiced in Rodney Street. He lived in Church Street, on the site of the George Henry Lees department store.
