My, What A Lovely
Medulla Oblongata
A love poem by Steven Wallace
Written on January 22nd, 2003
Thy autonomic functions excite me.
Thy nerve signals entice me!
Oh my, what a lovely medulla oblongata thou dost have!
The lower portion of thy brainstem maketh me warm and tingly.
The rest of thy brain interests me as well.
Thy superior medully velum rests next to
the leaf-like cerebellar vermis.
What a lovely design thou dost have in thy central sulcus!
Tis like intestines, yet all together one.
Beautiful is thy brain.
Thy septal nuclei,
thy quadrigeminal cistern,
thy splenium of corpus callosum!
Oh my!
I am overtaken by thy shapely brain!
Thy fourth ventricle in particular!
Oh how I love thy brain.
I desire to keep it in a mason jar
filled with Formalin on my desk.
