Ode to the Toe
A love poem by Steven Wallace
Written sometime in November.. maybe... or October, 2002

Just looking at thine toes 1
makes me feel as though I've
whacked my funny bone through
a wall.  The sight of them,
especially that weird, 5
screwed up one (no, the one
over there.  Yeah, that's it)
brings pain and fear over
all of the land.  Flee
then from this place, with your 10
feet of hideousness,
oh wretch!  I desire to
see thee no more!  Be gone
from me at once, lest ye
entice the monster of 15
Glorindischalamus
upon us all with thy
feet from the underworld. 18
