BA (Hons) Media Production with Journalism (2:2)
University of Luton
During my time at Unviersity I specialised in journalism and film production. I also covered areas such as presentation, sub-editing, design, digital photography, script writing, documentary practices, animation theory and advertising.
For my final project I wrote and directed a hybrid documentary drama dealing with the paranoia of the BSE crisis.

Sept 1993 - June 1995
BTEC National Diploma in Media
This course established me with a background knowledge that I would use with success at university. At college I studied areas such as radio theory and practices, page layout and design, photography, conventions of music, television and film. I also learnt how to give group presentations and excelled in this area.

For my final project I worked on redesigning promotional material for the course, utilizing design and writing skills culminating in a 30 minute presentation.

JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE
May 1999
NM News Freelance Article on the Merchandising of Star Wars Episode 1 for an edition of a new newspaper/magazine.
Responding to an advert placed in The Guardian I produced a 500 word article about the merchandising of Star Wars Episode I.

College/University Magazines
1997/8
Tin of Beans - Editor / Film Critic
I worked as both film critic/entertainment journalist and occasional editor. The highlight of this magazine was editing and deciding the content and layout for the Christmas edition.

Vibe Magazine - Coeditor / Entertainment's Writer
A co-creation by myself and a group of friends. This one off edition was produced as an unofficial end of course magazine. We were able to write, design, find advertising and distribute in the space of a week.

Windmill World - Entertainment's / Feature Writer
The official college magazine of Tresham's Windmill Avenue campus. I worked as the entertainment writer on this magazine as well as producing an article about the decline of Kettering's town centre due to the relocation of the Art and Media departments. Working on this magazine taught me how to use Pagemaker and scanners.

Key colleague/Colleague Representative
Through working at ASDA I funded my way through further and higher education. I am second in command to the Departmental Manager I do everything from merchandising to stock count and ordering and ensuring that the department runs smoothly. As a Colleague representative it is my job to help and advise colleagues as to company procedures and represent them should they need it.

Breaking Clays Magazine
Three weeks work placement. Through working here I was able to learn about working for a national magazine. I improved both my typing skills as well as learning the workings of a magazine from the flat-plan to writing the articles and selling advertising space. I was able to utilize the skills learned here working on college and university magazine.

This was an interesting two weeks work experience as I learned the workings of an entertainment complex.

HOBBIES / INTERESTS

My big thing at the moment is Script writing and I am currently working on my first trilogy (provisionally called the Shoulder the Sky trilogy). I hope some day to be published/produced.

My major interest is Film Theory and Cinema and I am interested and knowledgeable in all areas of the movie industry. I collect DVDs, Star Wars, Film books, soundtracks and the movies of George Lucas, Kevin Smith and Robert Rodriguez.

I enjoy driving and hanging out with my friends.
