Dido
Live at the Shepherd Bush Empire 14/04/01
Dido,the
incredible vocalists who shot to fame over the Christmas period after being
sampled on the Eminem track Stan hits the live circuit with all of
the energy that you would expect from the greatest British talent to emerge
in the past few years.
Dido was able to pull off the impossible as with only one studio album under her belt (the multi-platinum No Angel) her set was always going to be a limited one, with the exception to two new tracks.
This aside, from her storming entrance to her incredible encore Dido proved why she truly is one of the most versatile new talents around.
Highlights of the evening included her performance of the haunting Here with Me (theme to hit TV series Roswell)
This girl isn't without a sense of humor from her asking of the audience how many knew more than the first verse of Thank You (as sampled by Eminem)to her response to a marriage proposal "Maybe in a next life when we are both squirrels".
For an encore she performed a new track Addiction and the rocking Don't think of Me.
With all the stale female vocalists from Mel B to Brittany Spears and Shania Twain that are dominating the charts it is great to see an artiste that can mix acoustic with dance in a truly original way.
