Dogma
DVD Review
(US)
Dir: Kevin Smith
Starring: Linda Fiorentino, Alan Rickman, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, Alanis Morissette, Jason Mewes, Jason Lee and Kevin Smith.

At last Kevin (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy) Smith's Dogma hits DVD!

Now Dogma was the movie that caused outrage last Christmas with protests from Catholic groups that caused original distributors Miramax (part of the Disney Corporation) to sell distribution rights to the film.  Big Mistake.

Dogma is the tale of two outcast Angels (Affleck and Damon) who find a loophole to get back into heaven and if they do the world and existence will come to an end.  God has gone missing so it is up to the last descendant of Jesus, Bethany (Fiorentino) with the help of the Rufus the Apostle (Rock), The Metatron (Rickman) and Smith regulars  Jay and Silent Bob (Mewes and Smith) to save the day.

Dogma is an incredible film if you know enough about religion or are a fan of Smith's work and of the back stories and in jokes that are referenced from Smith's previous movies.

But if you are a new comer to his films it is rather confusing on a first viewing, but if you persist you'll find a very enjoyable film which is better on second viewing.

EXTRAS
what extras?  This is a pretty standard DVD with subtitles, cast filmographys, trailer, and scene selection.

Ratring:***** An incredible film that's only fault is the Dogma Special Edition DVD due for release in October!
