Telling it as it is!

Major Earthquake in Gujarat

A massive earthquake in the Indian State of Gujarat killed at least 20,000 people this week and leaving many more injured.

Although this is subject that I would usually not touch, I feel that I had to mention it as t goes to show that no matter what man might build it can all turn to disaster at the hands of nature.

Justice for Lockerbie?

It looks as if justice has been done as one of the two Libyans accused of causing the Lockerbie bombing was found guilty by a Scottish court during the trial in the Netherlands.

Abdelbaset Megrahi was given a life sentence for the bombing of the Pan Am flight 103 which killed 270 people in 1988. He may have to answer for his crimes, but, what about those who ordered the bombing when are they going to stand trial. The way that I see it is that there can be no justice while Mr Megrahi's superiors are allowed to walk free of trial!

Baby Scandal

The reports into the unlawful collecting and storing of baby and child organs body parts without the permission of the said parents hit the headlines this week.

The biggest culprit in this sickening act being pathologist Professor Dick Van Velzen of Alder Hey hospital Liverpool.

What I find so sickening is the fact that these organs were stored for what seems to be for no apparent reason. Had they been used to benefit research or to help the life of a sick child/baby there might have been some justification.

But there can be no justification for the mutilation of a loved one without the permission of his/her parents!

West Ham defeat the 'should be winners' of the FA Cup!

Nice one Paolo Di Canio for scoring the winner that sent Manchester United out of the FA Cup! After a rather ingenious (yet ignored) offside fake by United goalie Fabien Barthez to try and stop the on target Di Canio, he hit the ball in to ensure that they go a step closer to the Cup.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson managed to blame everyone (including a rugby match on the United pitch last November) bar his keeper!

Face facts Fergie, you lost so no treble this year. Like I'm really sorry....NOT!

I want my BBC!

Nice one Lennox Lewis for bringing Boxing back to the BBC. Admittedly not as big a deal as he could have got with Sky (at only £1 million for his title defense against Hasim Rahman in Las Vegas).

Not that I have a problem with showing Boxing on sky, but when they transferred all big title matches to Box Office it effectively lost a lot of viewers who were not conned into paying for matches that may only last a few rounds.

Lennox Lewis a true champion in every sense of the word!

Popstars: Who cares!

I find the idea of a programme that glorifies the creation of a manufactured pop group a bad sign of poor television and even more so a bad sign for the music industry.

Admittedly I have never watched the show on the basis that I have manufactured pop a real turn off. But like Big Brother last year it is hard to miss with it being thrusted at you by the tabloid press!

The way I see it is that if people have a real talent then they will be heard and to be honest Spice Girls, Steps, 5ive, Westlife, Backstreet Boys etc all have that same glossy, studio produced, choreographed feel that makes my skin crawl.

As I write this I am listening to REM a group that like U2, The Stones, Nirvana etc that was formed the natural way.
