Telling it as it is!

God bless America

In all the time that I have written this column I never thought that I would ever be writing about an attack on American's mainland. Here are my own personal thoughts on the incident.

September 11th 2001 will live forever as the say in which the world took REAL notice of the threat of terrorism.

The destruction of the famous World Trade Centre of New York and part of The Pentagon marked the biggest attack on the USA since Pearl Harbor.

Having lived in England all of my life we as a nation are used to attacks of terrorism making the headlines on a regular basis with the rest of the world seeming to ignoring it.

It is only when the destruction of thousands of innocent lives in the biggest terrorist attack that the world unites to confront this evil.

In the East there seems to be many dedicated to the cause of suicide bombing, but to train to be a pilot with the intention to hit the heart of Western culture and ideologies in the States really brings it home that there is no way to defeat an individual or individual who are willing to sacrifice their own lives for a cause.

With a prime Suspect, Osama Bin Laden of the the al-Quida terrorist organization having his own Jihad (Holy War) against the USA he is the prime suspect. Although finding him in Afghanistan will be hard as he is currently being protected by their ruling Taliban.

Terrorism needs to be wiped out and if anything positive can be seen as coming out of this tragedy it is that terrorism of any kind will no longer be tolerated. So from this one tragedy there may be a chance of peace in Northern Ireland as terrorism put down their weapons in favor of words.

As a fan of American and their culture I was gutted when I watched the images on TV.

I have watched many a movie in which parts of the States have been ripped to bits by terrorists from Independence day to Die Hard. But with the movies there is a villain that we can hate and we don't see the aftermath or the loss of innocent lives.

If anything this tragediy has taught the world that the real heroes are not the move stars who save the day on the screen but or the Politicians who authorize spending cuts but instead the Emergency Medical Services, Doctors Nurses, Firemen and Civilians who risked or lost their lives in a bid to save others.
