Review: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Dir: Kevin Smith
Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Jason Lee

"Snooch to the nooch naga nooch!"

After playing second fiddle in Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma, Stoners Jay (Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith) have at last got their own movie which is both a must-see movie and an avoid at all costs in one.

If you love Kevin Smith and his movies then this is Fan-boy heaven! If you have never heard of Jay and Silent Bob then this is a mixture of crude jokes that pans out more like a sketch show than a movie!

Writing as a fan of Kevin Smith, this movie is a great piece of film-making for a minority audience. You have to be part of his community to get a majority of of the references.

Set out as a Road movie, Jay and Silent Bob discover that the Chronic and Bluntman Comic book (Chasing Amy) is being made into a movie and that they are not getting a cut of the profits so decided to set off to Hollywood to stop the film being made.

Along the way the duo meet up with familiar faces from the View Askew (Kevin Smith's production company) universe which makes for some hilarious moments and at times adds for some closure for Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy as all of the central characters are featured.

With some great cameos from the likes of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Carrie Fisher Mark Hamill, and Scooby Doo it almost distracts you from the fact that you are not watching a real movie but instead a sketch show held together by a thin plot.

If, like me, you can handle this, check your brain out, go with the flow and let Jay and Silent Bob take you on the most hysterically offensive road trip of the year!
