Still telling it as it is!
Ten in 01 part 2
Welcome to part two of my 10 favourite Editorials of 2001, featuring my favourite pieces of writing from the past year.
6 Good-bye Billy!
Its near the end of the election as we know it and Billy Hague STILL thinks
that he is in with a chance!
I'm sorry but what planet is he on, as it sure isn't earth!
If I was a betting man, I would put money on the following:
The lowest number of Conservative seats since the founding
of the party!
William Hague replaced as leader of the Conservatives within
the next three months!
Let us face the facts, all the opinion polls tell the same
story, silly Billy is going to loose big time. The only people that seem
to be voting for the pompous little twit (going by all of the signs in the
rural area in which I write this little column) are the farmers and the
Upper Classes with their banners shown with pride!
Sorry Billy, more working class than this minority! To quote
Ann Robinson, "You are the weakest link good-bye".
Not to spread my own personal politics into my totally unbiased column, but I do hope that Charles Kennedy does at least have a decent showing as it would be nice to see them as the main opposition and real blow to the Conservatives!
7 Shrek: Movie of
the year?
Now it is rare for me to comment on great movies in my column but after
watching the incredible Shrek I feel that it deserves a mention!
This film is the best Animated feature to come out of Hollywood since the
original Toy Story, with it's humor lodged directly in that rarely tappable
bracket between child and adult.
Okay the animation is mediocre, but is forgivable, but the script and voice
performances from Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and John Lithgow
make this such an incredible movie.
I have not laughed out loud at a new movie since American Pie so this film
was a warm welcome back. With it's constant digs at Disney and outlandish
humor it makes for one of the best nights out I have had in a while.
8 (Midland) Mainline Rip-off!
On a trip from Kettering to London this week I expected to pay at most £42
for the journey at 8am in the morning. Not £42! I'm sorry but considering
that I had to stand (unless I wanted to go in the smoking compartment) this
is a rip-off!
I mean £42! Will any of this money that Midland Mainline are making
go towards improvements to their service? I don't think so!
The only people that benefit from this extortionate charge are the fat cats
that bleed the commuters and day tripper's dry!
For £42 I expect incredible service, a comfortable journey and a bit
of pampering....all of which I DID NOT receive.

Not so enterprising farmers!
Lord Haskins, the Government's rural recovery coordinator
has condemned Britain's farmers for "lack of enterprise and cooperation"
and "too dependent on Government aid".
Never a truer word has been spoken by someone within the Government!
By now you should realize that I am not a supporter of the British farming
industry, for many reasons that are not of relevance now and I believe that
we should as a country be looking at supporting the industries that are
effected by mass closures rather than the farmers that make more money that
n most anyway.
Why, in all honesty should the tax payers subsidize the farming industry
when we can import a higher quality product from abroad in the name of patriotism?
And, why should we support the British farmers when they have NEVER supported
any British industry?
10Duke of Morons
I am not a royalist and if you read any of my previous Editorials you will
see that I can be very scathing in my opinions of these parasites, but Price
Edward the Earl of Wessex proved this week that he is probably the biggest
moron of the lot.
He is the ultimate Parasite! Not only is it bad enough the he lives off
of his HRH and his TV/Film Company that is running at a loss (the only subject
they cover is Royalty) This week he showed that he is happy to live off
of his own Nephew William by breaking a Media ban on filming the young
Prince at University after the show-piece photo session had
ended.
Who does he think he is? The Media blackout (which has been respected by
the rest of the world media) was enforced to give William privacy and for
Edward to break this rule just goes to show what a moron he really is.
Apparently Charles has had words with Edward, but how must
he feel knowing his own brother is living like a leech trying to live off
of his son.
Edward should now do the right thing and emigrate with his equally idiotic wife to a place where they can do no more harm. I hear that the North Pole is nice at this time of the year.
