Review: Belinda Carlisle at Chicago Rock Cafe Luton

Now I have seen Belinda play the NEC Birmingham, Shepherds Bush Empire (as a Go-Go), and even the Roadmender (Northampton) but Chicago in Luton has to be the lowest point in her career!

Belinda arrived on stage just after 10pm and sang Karaoke style live mic over a backing track of her greatest hits!

Having been a fan of Belinda since 1987 and a hard-core Go-Go's fan since 1991 it was such a shame to see the lead singer of the greatest all-girl band playing for drunken students (shouldn't complain I had a Go-Go's poster on my Uni of Luton Halls Walls though '95-98). Belinda seemed to be as much into the show as the rest of the audience as she put in a lackluster performance that seemed to be a parody of herself.

You could almost feel the contempt for the situation that she is in! Belinda has an audience, and sadly the British do not appreciate it! If this is all that her solo career is fit for then she should quit the solo and become a full time Go-Go!

Come on Belinda, Lust to Love, Unforgiven, Our Lips etc. are sealed., are much better than the Heaven on... crap your solo career has churned out!

Hear'Say to Stay!

It was a sad week for music lovers as after weeks of speculation it was announced that Kym Marsh had left Prefab Pop's finest Hear'Say and they were NOT Splitting!

I was as sad as the rest of the world that they decided not to call it a day on the group, instead opting to hold auditions to replace Ms Marsh.

Apparent arguing with the Chipmunk like Mayleene Klass as well as being tired of being in a prefab group led Ms Marsh to leave the fold!

What was Kym Marsh thinking? Didn't she realize that the group was made-up? As for her solo talent, with Hear'Say she had everything handed to her on a plate, the songs, the music, the publicity, this is a decision that Ms Marsh will regret!

Fame is fleeting and in toady's MTV/reality TV culture in which 15 minutes of fame has been halved to about 7.5 minutes Ms Marsh will soon find out that tomorrow people will be saying Kym who?
