Still telling it as it is!
*This is my first true editorial column in over 10 weeks so I apologize if I seem a little rusty, just trying to get into the swing of writing again and start writing stories that I have intended to write since Mid-May!*
Rio in Manchester
Last weekend, England's World Cup Star and former Leeds defender Rio Ferdinand signed the expected deal to join Manchester United for a British record fee of £29.1 million.
So what does that mean for English football?
Well in the eyes of this Web journalist you can call off the forthcoming Premiership season as with the defense and strike force that Manchester United now possess, only a major screw-up will stop them being the dominant force in English and World football.
Last year trophy-less season will be wiped away with a team consisting of the best of the England squad.
How can a team with David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Roy Keane possibly go wrong!
Manchester, now that they have sorted out their defensive problem that cost them so dearly last season are now without a doubt the most complete team competing in British if not world football. Not being a Manchester United fan this proves very disheartening as unlike last season this could shape up to be another one of those 'one-horse' seasons, which really does not make for good football.
I for one hope that Rio makes his mark as he deserves all of the accolades and trophies that I hope he attains with Manchester United.
On another note, Go Leicester City! I hope that they spring back to the Premiership as Division One Champions.
Angelle
Much has been written as of late about the new music and satellite TV 'sensation' (and soon to be checkout girl) Angelle.
Angelle who has her own TV station, Vibe TV (bought for her by her much older 'Sugar Daddy', sorry I mean boyfriend) which is used to promote her album and forthcoming single.
This is the worst kind of TV and music imaginable, a europop Christina Aguilara, Britney Spears whose fame is based on the fact that she has a TV station to promote her bland bubblegum music.. Yet it is strangely addictive.
With Angelle's music Video, Concert footage, Documentaries, Paul Kong Interview and weekly diary, this makes for strangely compelling viewing.
Angelle, whose, music matches her looks as in not that special, has seemingly managed to convince herself that she's already a star despite not having the single out yet.
There is something distinctly fascinating yet tragic in the way that she is being promoted. The idea of buying a TV station to promote a new artiste is a stroke of genius, it's just a shame that she really is terrible.
Regardless of my taste in music, to which she isn't, Angelle just strikes me as being another blonde production line pop that really lacks the talent that her contemporaries have. As for her music, her voice really is weak and she is the epitome of the worst in the euro-pop song that originated really with the likes of Ace of Base, the only difference is that she's from Birmingham.
The lyrics are terrible and the fact that she can only target the non-MTV music channels as well as her own is some indication as to how well her debut will fare once it's released in a fortnight.
The tragic thing is watching the documentaries and seeing her sign autographs. How much did they pay the crowds?
I just hope that before Vibe TV turns in a Shopping channel in November that it shows her buying loads of the singles to try and get into the charts as well as her appearance in a top-shelf magazine before finding obscurity.
