The Ultimate Edition DVD

1991

Director: James Cameron

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick, Linda Hamilton

Arnie said he would be back and at last T2, the big budget, sequel to 1984s The Terminator has made it to DVD and this disc hits you with the same explosion of adrenaline as the movie itself.

Set 10 years after the events of the original Terminator, Skynet have sent back a T-1000 Terminator (Patrick), to wipe out John Connor (Furlong). But future John has also sent a reprogrammed Terminator (Arnie) to protect himself.

What happens leaves little to the imagination, but, hey, this is one of the best Popcorn movies around and the plot is not that important.

While watching T2 the only problem is which one you watch, as not only do you get the cinematic version, but, you get the Special Edition thrown in as well. This makes a great change, as rather than buying two versions of a movie this appeases those who prefer the special edition or cinematic version!

Great additions to the the original movie include a dream sequence featuring Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) from the original and the T1000 malfunctioning.

T2 is one of the movies that DVD was made for! It's sound and extras are out of this world.

The menu screens are the best seen so far on DVD and the fluidity that the computer animation moves you from main menu to root even puts some of the movie's special effects to shame!

Other features included Dolby Digital 5.1 surround EX, The making of T2 and the Universal theme park ride, A look at the Special Edition (including a different ending), trailers, screenplay, audio commentary and DVD-ROM material all packaged on an incredible double sided DVD.

Ratings: Movie: **** Impressive Sequel!

Extras:***** On a par with the Mallrats DVD. Pure excellence!
