As I mentioned in my previous postcard, we actually started our second day at another part of the Admiral Nimitz museum complex ... the Pacific Combat Zone ... an interactive/hands-on kinda place where one (mostly the men) could go in, climb on and just generally play with most of the great big toys! Steve had a ball!

The Zone tour was conducted by a guide and included audio and visual aids, as well as life-size exhibits. Here, we were on the "hangar deck of an aircraft carrier" ... the plane is real, the men aren't.

Our next stop took us to "the dock" where the PT-309 was tied up ... this is a real PT boat, one of only two of this variety that survived ... the other one is in the Smithsonian. These boats were made of wood! Amazing. We couldn't go on the boat, but we could get really close.

This our guide, Joy and she's standing on the "beach-head" with a landing craft behind her.
