| Wednesday - Trujillo,
I went to
see the ruins of the Moche tribe called
Chan Chan (the smaller site of Arco Iris was
more interesting to me. Thursday - to the more
interesting ruins of two pyramids (Huacas). Built of various
layers of relief frescoed stories in which a King
was buried and then the next layer built on top
Friday - I went to Chiclayo .., but it was just a busy
city so I went 15 Km north to the Bruning
Museum a well laid out explanation of ancient
Pervian cultures.
I went to
the pyramids at Tucume , but actually because most
areas were closed off it wasn't
as interesting as the museum
There were no hotels in Tucume so I ended up at
the village of Motupe where I found there was a
festival going on so I decided to stay.
Saturday - stayed in
Motupe. I followed the people as they carried a
holy cross 10 Km up a nearby hill to a sacred
shrine ..in fact the festival was not so
interesting, I'm not into all that Catholic stuff
or the tacky Chicha music at the dances in the
evening
Sunday - There was a
lack of transport , but I eventually got to Piura
. Which was clean and OK , but no so interesting
. I took a quick look at the nearby village of
Catacaos, but this wasn't so interesting either
so I took the night bus to Tumbes
onto
Ecuador
