Fri- Drifted into a town called Asan. Now I'm in the park .. Theres a 3 day festival going on. We saw pretty good youth dance routines, some famous singer and now there seems to be some kind of singing competition.

Yet another Is Su Shin Monument the Koreans seem to be a bit short on heros (He was buried in Asan)

In the same park they have a reed bed experiment. Build something to destroy nature and then you can waste even more money building something else to fix it !

Sat - I went to Pyeontaek cos theres lots of cheap places to stay and I can get some work done.

The weird "Kisaeng chip" area - As I was looking for a hotel I suddenly found myself in a street with huge glass windows all the way along. I realised I must must be in the "red light area". I had seen strange kisaeng chip area in Korea before. So I went back at night to look. One of the weirdest things in korea
1. It was pretty big about 2 city blocks.
2. It's so uniform hundreds of brightly lit "shopfronts", In each sit 4 or 5 girls. They almost all look the same. The are tall and thin to start with, but they wear stange clothes ....

They almost all look the same they wear clingy white leggings or hot pants, a similar crop top which exposes their belly button, and then funny white leg warmers. I have seen promotion girls wear them and I wondered why, now I can see the way the these girls wore them over platform shoes makes their legs look incredibly long. There must be a fashion for tall slim girls. They all looked to be Korean with long straight hair, but with the occasional long blonde wig. It's strange to me the normal dressed women in town look much more attractive . In Gunsan in 2003 each "shop", had a theme Space girls, school girls, Egypt girls, so it looked much more sexy.

I walked down the middle of the street and they ignored me, but called out to the cruising cars.

I saw one smart woman walking with a clip board. At first I thought she was a "sexual health worker", but then I saw she was the Make-Up Lady she went around touching up their make-up. And I saw the girls crowd round handcarts loaded with new costumes and makeup etc, which a few old men were pushing. There must be a whole service industry.

It's strange usually in Korean culture there's not much space, or privacy and people are shy and conservative so I'm sure they don't have enough sex. It's strange that in Korea it's not acceptable to talk about sex yet they have places like this. If they could talk more openly perhaps there would be more mutually satisfying relationships. I wouldn't want to be one of those girls, however clean and sanitised the environment .
