FILMS : Voices at the Bottom of the Indian Pyramid - villagers routinely referred to problems were caused by foreign corporations. Yet at the same they failed to see the failings in their own behavior and culture.
- Continued having children to have a son
- The husbands wasted money on alcohol
- They failed to assert their own rights .. By working for low salaries
- They borrowed from loan sharks vos they didn't have collateral to borrow from banks. Yet they largely failed to establish their own credit unions.
- What is the big deal about credit anyway ?.. you can do business without credit .. I have never borrowed. In fact the great danger is that they will get credit and become credit slaves like working Americans.
- In fact India is much more closed to foreign closed to foreign corporations than most countries. And in countries where more of the everyday economy is corporate there significantly less poverty
- I readily accepted that peoples problems were the fault of foreigners not of the Indian Government, people or culture.
- The film told us nothing except that villagers think it's foreign corporations fault
