COMMENTS : Astronomy Report From Sky and Telescope's Web site Tuesday, March 23 The crescent Moon shines below bright Venus in the west this evening, offering a foretaste of their beautiful conjunction tomorrow. Wednesday, March 24 The Moon and Venus shine together in the western sky this evening — a strikingly beautiful sight, as shown above. These are the two brightest objects in the sky after the Sun. Binoculars will give an especially gorgeous view. This is also a good time to look for "earthshine," which makes the dark portion of the Moon glow dimly gray. Earthshine is sunlight reflected from the Earth onto the Moon's nighttime landscape — the same way a full Moon lights the ground on Earth at night. As dusk deepens, look for fainter Mars to the upper left of the Moon and Venus, the star Aldebaran to the left or upper left of Mars (looking like its twin), and the Pleiades star cluster nearer to Mars's right. Report Hello, 1st...thanks for the offers of condolence. 2nd..doesn't Captain of Engineering make more sense...ie...Scotty in STII:TWOK? 3rd..Here follows my Engineer's Report....hope you enjoy. 4th..anything new on the fiction portion for us? From the Desk of the Captain of Engineering Ken Oziah Chief Engineers Report For April 1, 2004 While reviewing previous logs, I discovered something that one of the diagnostic crews had missed. There have been several reports of late, regarding short-range RF data links. The data links provide transmission of information to portable and handheld devices such as our recorders and PADDs. There appears to be some type of virus that has infected the data links, although, I am not sure where it came from. I have ordered a level 2 diagnostic of the sections of the data links that appear to be damaged. This answers such questions as: 1) Medical Department: Why is ENS Carzi’s cardio reading showing the heart rate of a Ferengi? 2) Environmental Systems Division: Why do the air purity test results show extremely high levels of photon radiation? This diagnostic should take three days to complete, as there were several areas of the ship that have been impacted. I only hope the Biogel Packs are not damaged. Nothing further at this time. FCAPT Ken Oziah Captain of Engineering ***** ***** Transporter Chief Report St. George Department Report Transporter Chief March 23, 2004 Tranporter department experiencing some infrequent fluxuations with some of the transporter bays, causing a few minor delays in crew departures on shore leave. Most of the repairs have been completed except for the officers transporter. That bay will have to be overhauled and any officer tranports will have to be made via the shuttle bay.
