Life Chain 2006 in Orland Park will soon be here.  Please use the information provided here to encourage the members of your church to attend.  Life Chain is a very effective way to stand up and express the value of life to our neighbors so that hearts will be converted to choose life.

Due in part to our nation’s silence, another 1.3 million babies have died in their mother’s wombs in just the last year.  More babies die from abortion in one day than were lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.  In fact, we are still trying to ban the continuing practice of partial birth abortion, a procedure that goes beyond abortion to infanticide.

On Sunday, October 1st, from 2:30-3:30 in the afternoon, thousands of people who recognize God’s voice saying, “choose life” will take that message to the streets.  They will stand silently side-by-side, holding signs that give truthful but loving warnings and exhortations that Abortion Hurts Women, Abortion Kills Children, Adoption: the Loving Option, Jesus Forgives & Heals, and Life-The First Inalienable Right.  There are no graphic pictures.

We encourage you and your entire church to join us for one important hour.  We are praying that this Life Chain will help women who contemplate abortion to change their choice and help all those around them to see that abortion is, indeed, NOT a choice at all, but a serious mistake.  It takes a lot of people to fill up LaGrange Road (96th Avenue in Orland Park).  You will make a difference one way or another through your participation or absence.

If you are new to Life Chain, we invite you to participate in one of the most effective public statements we can make.  Life Chains were formed in over 900 cities last year to show respect for life in a peaceful and prayful way without incident or disturbance.

This is a family event!

Life Chain is open to all who wish to join us, though we have found the most effective way to promote participation is through the local churches.  With your help in organizing your congregation, we will be more able to bring the ‘choose life’ message to our community.

If your church does not have a pro-life coordinator, we ask you to find someone willing to promote Life Chain for your church.  Enclosed you will find all the information needed to inspire your congregation to gather for this witness to life.  If your church does not have an assigned location, call a Life Chain committee member to obtain one.  On October 1st pick up signs for your church at Park Point Plaza (SW corner of 149th St and 96th Ave).

If you need any further information, feel free to contact any member of the 2006 Orland Park Life Chain committee.  Updates, pictures from last year’s event and additional information can be found on the Internet at www.oocities.org/StGeoProLife/.

Please join us this year as we pray and witness to God’s warning, “Choose Life, that you and your descendants will live”!  We thank God for you as you continue to defend the life of the unborn and rescue the lives of their mothers.

In His love,

The 2006 Orland Park Life Chain Committee

These are written here for your convenience only.

Please feel free to adjust as you see fit, or make your own.

Suggestion for Sunday, 2 weeks before Life Chain

Bulletin Announcement

Mark you calendar for Sunday, October 1st from 2:30-3:30 pm.  Life Chains will again form along local streets across the United States and Canada.  Standing publicly, Christians will witness to the value of life and pray silently for an end to abortion.  Please join (your church name) as we attend this life-saving event on LaGrange Road (96th Avenue) in front of (your location) in Orland Park.  To allow time for distribution of signs, plan to arrive by 2:00pm.

Pulpit Announcement

Life Chain Sunday is coming on October 1st.  Our church will gather in front of (your location) on LaGrange Road (96th avenue), in Orland Park.  Our Life Chain will join over 900 other cities and towns across America in a silent, loving witness to end abortion.  More than 90% of women who have had abortions say they wish they hadn’t... and they wouldn’t have if they’d received the right information.  Please be a part of Life Chain this year.

Suggestions for Sunday, 1 week before Life Chain:

Bulletin Announcement

Life Chain 2006 is an opportunity to stand up and be counted among the pro-life majority as we join our hearts in silent, prayerful witness against the ‘procedure’ that takes the life of the unborn while leaving a crippling scar on the heart and life of the mother.  Stand with us next Sunday as we prayerfully let our neighbors know that abortion hurts women, too.  (Your church name) will meet in front of (your location) on LaGrange Road (96th avenue) in Orland Park.  Please plan to arrive at 2:00pm to obtain your sign and find your position.

Pulpit Announcement

Did you know that over 80% of women who have had abortions said that their choice to abort was not thought out... it was an impulse decision made out of despair and fear.  Life Chain 2006 occurs next Sunday.  Our church will join with other churches along LaGrange Road (96th avenue) and quietly pray for an end to abortion in our nation and the world.  We’ll hold signs for passers-by to read.  These signs have messages like: “Abortion Hurts Women”, “Adoption, the Loving Option”, and so on.  When women see these signs, they stop and think.

Life Chain is not about angry words.  It’s about a loving warning, like the one that God gave His people in Deuteronomy 30:19:

“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse;

Therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”

Please meet (your church) members in front of (your location) on LaGrange Road in Orland Park.  We should arrive at this location at 2:00 to be in position on time.  See you there!

Suggestions for Life Chain Sunday:

Bulletin Announcement

Today is Life Chain Sunday.  Please take an hour today to stand with us as we silently and lovingly proclaim that abortion is not a solution ... it is a critical mistake.  We will meet in front of (your location) on La Grange Road (96th avenue) in Orland Park.  Please arrive by 2:00pm to pick up your sign, and then display God’s love with a warm and welcoming smile to passers-by.  See you there!

Pulpit Announcement

At 2:30pm today, (your church) will be at Life Chain 2006.  We’ll meet in front of (your location) on LaGrange Road (96th avenue) in Orland Park.  In the spirit of Christian love, we will present a peaceful, prayerful message that abortion is not a good choice for women or their unborn babies.  You’ll want to arrive at 2:00pm to park and take a position.  Be sure to dress comfortably, and bring a chair if you need one.  Even though we may not see immediate results, we know that Life Chain changes hearts and minds.  See you there!

*Please follow and enforce the LIFE CHAIN CODE OF CONDUCT

LIFE CHAIN CODE OF CONDUCT

Arrive 2:00 pm Life-Chain 2:30 to 3:30

May the Lord richly bless you for your stand against the killing of our unborn children

and the spiritual and emotional crippling of America’s women.

1.        Be humble and yet bold in your obedience to God, recognizing this is for the children, their mothers, and the ultimate fate of our nation.

2.        In the spirit of Christian love, commit to be peaceful, prayerful and polite in both word and deed.  Any misconduct from passersby should be defused with a “smile”.  Show your love for one another, and for those who disagree with you.

3.        Be at your church’s assigned area by 2:00pm for parking, positioning and to pick up your signs.  Stand about 6 feet apart and fill in any holes in the chain as much as possible.

4.        Please take care of your signs and RETURN them to your coordinator for future Life Chains.  Please do not display any other signs.

5.        Help others -- Keep a watchful eye to help senior citizens with chairs and to assist mothers with children.

6.        PLEASE

Ø        Don’t block entrances when parking or standing.

Ø        Don’t block traffic.  Car pool to minimize traffic.

Ø        Park legally.

Ø        Park on the same side of the street as your designated Life Chain area.

Ø        WATCH SMALL CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES.

Ø        Pick up all trash, cups, etc.

Ø        Do not allow children to access local businesses during Life Chain.

Ø        Do not, except in emergency, use the Restrooms of local businesses

Remember the ultimate sacrifice was God’s only Son on our behalf; Jesus Christ paid a debt we could never repay... He, by example, demonstrated His love for us.  God bless you and thank you.
