Section 11-7 in their home room for a Theory lesson

I'm teaching IT to grade 11 students at one of Asmara's biggest schools. Teaching here is challenging and rewarding. At the start of the Semester many of the students had never touched a computer before, but by the end they are producing formatted Word documents and making Excel spreadsheets.

Conditions and equipment are basic, the IT room has 11 Intel 386 PCs running windows 3.11 (anyone remember that!). Class sizes in grade 11 are small by Eritrean standards, with about 55 students per class. Now the school has a fully fledged IT department with a definite international flavour, with Eritrean teachers Tekie and Ghidei, together with Sundaram from India and me from Britain.
