The effect of the Internet on my education

I remember back to the days of Apple II computers and pounding out little, worthless papers using an ancient word processor.  How things have changed since then!  My alma mater, Stanley-Boyd High School, started it's technology upgrade during the fall of 1998, my senior year.  Even with a short, limited period of access, I stretched my search engine knowledge to the limit.  I used the Internet for all my research papers that year.  In my physics class, my classmates and I found that we could get the teacher off the material and on to the computer pretty easily.  New technology sure helps relieve the stress of the school day.

Now that I'm in college, the Internet finds it's way into nearly every class I am taking.  My Econ 104 professor posts all of the class work online.  Perhaps the most impressive example of internet engineering prowess on campus would be the Dennis Jerz homepage.  There are many other cases of the Internet being used to connect classrooms.  Each department in the school has its own home page.  All the information about the university a person could want is available on these sites.

My burgeoning career as a coach is greatly assisted by the Internet.  The amount of information about opponents and colleges is all buried on the Internet.  Sites like Runners World.com and Track and Field News.com give a good overview of national running.  Smaller sites such as Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and The Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association page keep an accurate portrayal of current local running. There's just so much neat stuff out there!

The Internet is a great tool for education.  I've had a great experience with it.  All students need to do is reach out and take advantage of it!
