Travelling enroute to Ipoh city, you will be amazed to witness the magnificent hills found at the
edge of this town. This nature's sanctuary from heat and glare is made more interesting with the
presence of Buddhists cave temples.
Located only five kilometres from the southern part of Ipoh city, the Sam Poh Tong temple is
accessible by car. Opened by a Buddhist monk 20 years ago, it is the largest temple in this area.
It is indeed a delight to explore this temple.
You will experience the aura of mystery and enchantment as you set eyes on the magnificent
structure of stalactite and stalagmite formations besides the various replicas of the Buddha.
Proceeding further, you will arrive at a tunnel which leads to a tortoise pond. According to
Chinese mythology, the tortoise symbolises long life. Another fascinating attraction for visitors
is the wishing well. Drop a coin and you are entitled to one wish. This temple is open to visitors
and has two vegeterian restaurants
