The Tollgate
by Ayla

I remember myself, and the shadow surrounds me,
running from Self, so afraid of the duty.
Where can you hide when you run from inside?
I stand in Chesed, the price always high,
but the man at the tollgate will not be denied.

Try to forget and your duty will hunt you,
tracking you down like the servant you are.
Where can you hide when duty is master?
I run from Chesed, the price far too high,
but the man at the tollgate can always run faster.

Turn to accept it, face the truth of your fate,
stand and be steadfast before it's too late.
Where can you hide from your own destiny?
I stand before Chesed, the price was not real,
for the man at the tollgate has always been me.
