Belize, Central America    1989 - 1991

Serving with Peace Corps was one of the most positive experiences in my life.  We were stationed in the southern-most region of Belize, a tiny little country (now independent from Great Britain) that borders Guatemala.

I worked with the Toledo district Education officer, Fabian Cayetano, assisting and training Belizian teachers with curriculum development and preparation of visual aid materials..  I made visits to schools in the Maya villages in the district, and assisted in many community projects.  Altogether, it was a marvelous experience, and the decisive factor in my decision to return to college to become certified to teach English as a Second Language.  (I knew, even before I had left country to return to the states, that I wanted to do more language instruction).

I am in the process of adding photos to this portion of my site.. please check back again soon to see Punta Gorda, Belize and some of the many good friends I made there....
