Accomplishing Our Goal
posted by: Rick 7/2/04
Hey everyone, we finally have accomplished our goal of getting a show at Gabe's. It's on July 8th, doors are at 5pm, and the cost is $7. The best part of all is that we get to play with Copeland, Evan Anthem, and Chasing September (formerly Slow Children). This is probably going to be the coolest thing that we have done as a band. So go if you can and please help spread the word. Thanks

Hey people that read this, wow it has been along time since we posted. The variety show and dance-a-thon were a lot of fun, thank you to all of the people who attended/supported us/bought our cd. As of now we don't have any shows scheduled, so if anyone would like to help out we would greatly appreciate it. If not, that's cool. Hopefully we'll have something set up in the near future. Thanks

Hello, thanks for everyone's support at the battle of the bands last night. 'Twas Dreamy. It was a good show and all of the bands were good. Unfortunately our cd did not arrive yesterday, but they did today (as you can see illustrated by the intro page to our awesome website). Contact any band members to obtain that hot joint that drops today, for the mere price of $5. As of now, our next show is either the BHS variety show or the Dance-A-Thon. Thanks again.

Hey, we got the cd back a few days ago and the mp3s were just approved today! You can stream a couple of the songs at purevolume.com (if you feel like searching for it, make sure to type in stillstandingrock all as one word). Now all we have left to do is have it pressed...hopefully that won't take too long. Also, there are quite a few other updates on the site so take a look around. Thanks

Ello, so yeah...we went back to the studio yesterday to fix a few things after listening to the first mix. It might be a little while before we have a finished product, as we are also planning on having it pressed (which means it will take a little more time before we will be selling them and what not). I'm predicting that it'll be done some time in February. However, hopefully the next post will bring a few mp3s for your listening pleasure. Thanks

Yay...woo...everything is recorded! Dennis and Steve finished all of the vocals...with a little help from the magic guitar (thank you magic guitar). Now it's all about the mix, which will start tomorrow and hopefully be done fairly soon. Cool! Thanks

Cool, so another quick update. We finished all of the instruments today for all of the songs. Tomorrow, Dennis is going to start vocals and hopefully we'll have it all done and ready to start mixing. Ecto-Cooler is good! Thanks

Hey, so we just got back from the studio and so far all is going well. We were able to record all of the main instrumental parts for three of the songs. Hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to finish the other two then get the majority of the vocals done. That's pretty much it for now...we'll probably post again tomorrow. Thanks
(Oh yeah, Jingle Jam was cool)

Helloooo. Thank you to everyone that went to the show on Nov. 8, it was a lot of fun and we helped raise a great deal of money for a good cause. So far all we have planned is Jingle Jam on Nov. 26 (tickets are on sale) and then in Dec. we record! In the meantime we have been fixing a few things and learning more. Also, there are new pictures up which can be found in the "media" section of the site...check it out. Thanks

Hey, we've got another show! All of the info is on the shows page...but I'll give you the majority of it anyway. It's on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Scott County Life Center. The cost is either $5 or 5 cans of food, as it is for charity (the hunger drive). So, to sum it all up - music, food, and helping out the homeless - sounds good to me. That's it for now, thanks.

HELLO!!! We're awesome thanks for asking. Well things in the StillStanding world are friggin awesome. Of course we've decided on recording Dec 1-3 and mixing soon thereafter. That'll be awesome. Also we've finally got a show, but it's unexpected…the Festival of Trees' Jingle Jam. Yeah, we're playing a formal dance…I get to feel awkward, but now on stage…awesome…I think. But that's cool, also we'll have some new songs, right now we've got 2 new ones called Procession to the Back Alley and Postcard From Florida (I think we're gonna change that title…or at least I want to…but I have no authority…I suck). I'm definitely putting lyrics on the site once songs are recorded, I've had requests for that…I'm self-conscious about that shit. Check out Calvin's picture site in our links, there's a really hot picture of Rick, topless. Well that's all I have to say, viva la revolution, fich die Marlins!

Hola! First, just in case you didn't read the last post...or don't feel like looking down, we have decided to record at Brass Sail Studio. Second, we just finalized the dates and will be recording and mixing on December 1st - December 4th (assuming all goes according to plan). So depending on how long it takes to get the cds pressed and everything, they could be ready around the end of December. In the meantime we plan on practicing and getting ready to record. We would also like to play some shows but are having trouble finding places to play (if anyone has any suggestions that would help a lot). Otherwise we might try to work something else out. We'll keep you updated. Thanks

Ok, so tonight we had our meeting at Brass Sail Studio and have pretty much decided on recording there. So, as soon as we figure out our own personal schedules we will set a date to record. It will probably be near the middle or end of November (which is sooner than expected), but we'll let you know as soon as we set an exact date. In terms of shows, we don't have anything set up and aren't even sure if Peabody's has re-opened. If anyone would like to set up a show with us that would be awesome. If not, I'm sure we'll figure something out fairly soon. Also, in case you didn't notice there is now a media section. This is where you will find a link to our MP3's if mp3.com ever starts accepting new artists for free again. That's all I can think of for now, thanks.
Wow...that was a lot of news *sigh*
One of the best jokes we heard at the meeting: "How many bass players does it take to screw in a light bulb...nobody's ever noticed."

Hello, this is just a quick update of what has been going on lately. We've spent the last month writing some new material and polishing the old, as we plan on recording in the near future. In terms of recording we have accomplished the following things: determining what songs we will be recording, completing the cd art, and the pricing of various things (because various things are important). The only thing left to do is find a studio and record! We are also planning on setting up some shows and will let you know as soon as we have worked out all of the details.
Thank you for your continued support.

Hey everyone, in case you didn't notice, our site got a facelift and not in a bad Hollywood kind of way. We also made a few changes to the content of some of the pages, and may continue to do so, so take a look around. The show tonight was cool, we played better than we have in a while (probably the best all summer). The air needed to be swept... We probably won't be playing any shows in August inorder to write new stuff and hopefully record as we now have the necessary resources (we also just didn't schedule anything). Thanks for the sizzleport!

I finally figured it out! The pictures page actually has pictures on it now. We will continue adding to it until we run out of space, then find a way to add more, so keep checking it out. If you have any pictures of us, we would appreciate it if you would send them to us via the band email (stillstandingrock@yahoo.com). Thanks

Yeah, I know this post is a little late but the show on June 20th went well. We had a good time and became friends with a good band called Most Likely to Fail (check the links). We are also in the process of setting up more shows and will update the shows section of the site as soon as we have worked out all of the details. Unfortunately we also have to pull out of the show on August 15th due to schedule problems, I still recomend checking out the other bands as they are all good. Lastly, I would like to remind everyone about the show on July 12th at Peabody's. We will be playing with Slow Children and two bands from Chicago which are very good. It should be a good show...bring a friend!

Dude, the show on Thursday was great fun, Better Off Dead was amazing (check out the links page and their site)...hopefully we hear from them again. Despite Dennis losing a fight with the microphone, it went well. Thanks for the support it made us feel real sexy like. We would also like to thank Closed on Sundays for sticking it out and playing last eventhough much of the crowd left, we still love you. We're still working on our financial situation, and hope to record a demo some time in the future.
Update on the band: Rick: someday *Shaking Fist* Curtis: Did anyone let him out today Dennis: Ovaries swelling more than ever Steve: Yep, it was funny

Hey, I just wanted to make sure that everyone knew about the show on June 12th at Peabody's. We're playing with Since 17, Closed on Sundays, Led by Last, and an awesome band from Pittsburgh called Better Off Dead. Show starts at 6:30 and the cost is $3. It should be a really good show, hope to see everyone there. Thanks

We regret to inform everyone that the show on June 6th at the Eagle has been cancelled, due to license problems and events at a recent show. However, it has been rescheduled for June 12th at Peabody's (More info TBA). We would appreciate it if everyone could help us spread the word. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks

Hey, we just got done with the 93.5 battle of the bands, it wasn't our best show but at least we had fun. I would just like to say that Since Seventeen did an amazing job, especially their last song, good work guys. I would also like to thank Huy for teaching me some of his crazy break dancing moves. Thanks

Hope to see some of you there...if not that's ok too. Check the shows page for the other new shows and hopefully some more in the future. Also, look for new updates on the bio page. Thanks

We're going to use our little paycheck to put towards getting a recording done, as we are currently writing more new material. That's it for now, thanks again, peace out

We have a few updates on the sight to look out for. (enjoy) The bio page is completely updated and now has all of Curtis' info. Also, as of now we don't have many shows planned but we will keep you updated as we find out. Thanks! (hey, this is Nick, Rick's brother, sometime soon I'm gonna try to make a pictures page and a links page, so if you have any pictures that you could send our way, that would help a lot! Just send them to slowchildrenmusic@yahoo.com and let me know the details and stuff like that. That's it, peace out.)

Also, we started recording some of our songs in Dennis' basement and it's sounding pretty good, we're planning to record some more and write even more new stuff. We have a few shows planned that are coming up soon, so keep checking the website for dates and what not. Thanks.
