On a dark and lonely night
on a hill called Calvary
An innocent man hung on a Cross,
where He died for you and me ~
His only crime was the love
He had for all mankind
Sent to bear the sins and shame
of a world that had gone blind.
Betrayed by one who was His friend
and placed into the hands
Of those who wanted to kill Him
and release a guilty man ~
But He did not fight His accusers
as they ridiculed His name,
And all the while He said nothing
though He was innocent of blame.
This was always meant to happen,
He knew that He was to die
For He had come into this world
to bring to us New Life ~
And through the message of the Word
God's grace shone from Him
For He was sent to die for us
so our New Life could begin.
What a generous price to pay
for our eternity
That we may live within His love
knowing He has set us free ~
To go through all that ridicule,
torment, death and pain,
But His love for us is so immense
He would do it all again!
Think upon when you curse someone
or when you hurt each other,
The Bible speaks that we should love
ourselves as one another ~
That even goes for our enemies
who can cause us so much pain,
Remember Jesus died for them too
and may need you to light their way.
For no one is above God's love
and no one's life's a waste,
And although we're all unworthy
He still gives to us His grace ~
For all His precious promises
written in His Word
Are gifts for every one of us
though it's not what we deserve.
God loves us so much more
than we could ever understand
And He will always carry us
like those footprints in the sand ~
He will never turn us away
no matter what we've done
For the price was paid for our sins
when He gave to us His Son.
Jesus died upon that Cross
that night on Calvary
That we might have His precious gift
of Life Eternally ~
And with His everlasting love
our sins have been replaced,
Though still unworthy He's given us
His amazing grace.

"Another addition to my Easter pages, this poem speaks about God's grace. All of us are sinners; we have all fallen short of God's glory and not one of us is worthy of God's grace or love for us....but you know what? We have them anyway. Why? Because He loves us so much, more than we could every comprehend or imagine. He wants what is best for us, as a Father does for His children. He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die IN OUR PLACE on the Cross for our sins and shame and heartaches, so we have the chance to live in Eternity with Him! That is amazing! It is so amazing that we cannot fully fathom the price He paid for us....to really know and feel the pain He went through for us. Jesus came to earth as a child, grew to be a man, a teacher, someone to look up to. He came to offer hope and love, and bring God's Word to our lives. He came to dwell with us, that we may truly know Him. And He came knowing that He would one day be persecuted, accused, tortured, ridiculed, denied, betrayed, tormented, and finally crucified and that He would die a slow and painful death....just for us. And for that, we have His grace. His amazing Grace. And that is awesome! God loves us THAT MUCH! And Jesus loves us THAT MUCH, that He stretched out His arms and died for us. In knowing this, would we then make that sacrifce for Him? To die to ourselves is to gain life eternally in Him. But it could never be as greater sacrifice as He made for us....how can we not give Him our lives? He gave His so we might have ours. That is love. That is His amazing Grace."
