The Ultimate
Sacrifice
Today we give thanks
to the One who gave us life
Who buried our transgressions
when He suffered and died.
Carrying that heavy cross
along with all our sins
He took our every fear and
grief
and forgave us everything.
He was beaten and tormented
His robe was torn through
The crown of thorns upon
His head;
King of the Jews.
Led upon the Way of Sorrows
and mocked by everyone
Shouldering the heavy load
God's one and only Son.
He was taken to Golgotha
a place called Calvary
There He gave up His life
so we'd have our's eternally.
His hands and feet were nailed
He cried out in pain
They hung Him upon the cross
and mocked him there again.
They said why not save Himself
if He were really the King
They laughed and they tormented;
they did not believe Him.
He asked "Father please forgive
them
they know not what they do
And let them know they are
loved
whatever way they choose."
Then He drew himself up for
breath
after all He had been through
He cried "It is finished"
and the curtain tore in two.
When all about was quiet
they then pierced His side
But only blood and water
flowed
the King of Jews had died.
They wrapped Him in a linen
cloth
then laid Him in a tomb
Guarded day and night to
see
if He would rise again soon.
Then at dawn after the Sabbath
on that the third day
The tomb now lay empty and
the stone had been rolled
away.
An angel of the Lord appeared
saying, "Please do
not fear,
Jesus was crucified but is
not dead;
He has risen , He's not here."
And so it was written that
He would suffer
and He'd rise from the dead
Changing hearts and lives
in His name;
just as the prophets has
said.
He raised His hands in blessings
saying "Peace be with you
all"
Then He rose into the heavens;
Jesus Christ our Lord.
He gave us the ultimate sacrifice
when He stretched out His
arms and died
So today we thank Him for
His love
and gift of Eternal Life.

"In this poem I describe what
Jesus went through in paying the ultimate price for our sins. I cannot
begin to describe exactly the pain and suffering He endured for us.
But it gives us an idea ~ and just how much He loves us. From His
journey through the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows) to the Cross, and to
Heaven, this poem expresses His love."
