Another month has almost come to an end. It was not as amazing as last year's as I doubt anything could top that. Still, the month was quite interesting and unusual.
During March, I only watched one movie on video and 4 in the theaters. Now that I am back in the morning shift, I'd say I could easily top that. I watched 6 back in February. The funny thing is that among the 4 movies watched in March none where seen in Eastwood cinemas.
Speaking of the morning shift, a week ago it was spectacular with the shift starting at 6:30 in the morning, but when I came in during the start of last week, I found out they adjusted it due to the freaking Day-light Saving Time observed in the Northern Hemisphere. So for the whole of April, we have to report to work at 4:30 in the freaking morning.
I have no idea how I'd get to work. I do not have plans of shelling out 500 Php every bloody day just so I could use our van to get to work. Not an option.
The most unusual thing which happened in March was that I barely touched my gadgets aside from moving them out of the way.
I have gone a month without wearing my MP3 player. The file system is acting up and I have never bothered to fix it and load files back on to it. This has been the longest time since I bought my MP3 player back in January, 2004 that I have not used it. A day out did not go by where I did not have it wrapped around my body.
I found an old tripod at home but have yet to use it with my digital camera. The camera was not even used the entire month, the batteries may be drained by now.
Drained. Just like my PSP which lays around in my room. The only time I use it was when I'd watch the Nacho Libre trailer I loaded onto it. The device is always on sleep mode, and the batteries have eventually drained out and have been out for at least a week now.
March was quite a busy month at work, so I never decided to bring my PSP along. Plus I had packed lunch which was quite hot when I left home and I wouldn't dare to put my PSP next to it. I'll make up for any lost time with her now that we are back in the morning shift.
Most of the month had been spent on dates. 3 with the same girl. I don't want to say anything more, as am really confused as to what the hell I am doing.
When am not out, I am playing Grandia 3 which is an awesome game, lots of visual eye-candy and a great battle system. Sadly, the things which have been said about the story are true when you load the 2nd disk.
I need to finish the game as soon as possible as Shadow Hearts 3 and Kingdom Hearts 2 are already out. Gotta play 'em all.
Things have slowed down quite a bit. We are now reduced to one blog entry every week.
I used to say that I blog more when I am depressed, a release of all this negativity inside me. So now that we are significantly blogging less, could we say that we have found the answer to ultimate happiness?
I answer that with a resounding NO.
If you are someone I am always with, which would be none other than my co-workers as they are the only people I am with as my life has been reduced to work and home, you would assume that I am happy, without a bloody care in the world. Well, I am not.
Inside the happy shell is a soul so miserable, wretched and twisted in dire need of a hug, actually a slap in the face would be better. One would never believe the things that I have done in the past, and the things I have been doing lately. One look at me and anyone would write me off as a pretty decent and nice boy.
I just wanted to be happy and I did find that happiness and apparently no matter how much I tried, it was simply not meant to be (Fuck that!). The karma of things in the past still seems to have some effect today.
Lately, I have set myself up for another series of karmic events bound to happen until the day I die.
Oh sheesh. It's already six in the evening and work starts again tonight. There are more things I want to blog but we need to prepare for work.
Being in the night shift does not provide a good schedule for watching movies except on day-offs. It's real annoying especially if there are around 3-4 new movies each week.
Thank goodness we are back on the morning shift on April, but I wish I could say the same about May since that is the most important month of the year with Da Vinci Code and X3: The Last Stand being released on the said month. Okay, M:I-3 would also be released on May.
Due to this, I try to watch movies anytime I get. Friday, being a day-off and with two intriguing movies I wanted to see, I decided to go out into the real world and spend a day in the movies.
Started with V For Vendetta. This was intriguing since it came from the same guys who made The Matrix trilogy. After one has been crushed by the sequels, sometimes there are instances wherein minute hopes of redemption lie within. V For Vendetta was satisfying enough. It was in no way as revolutionary as The Matrix, but it has it's own merits and was quite entertaining. Natalie Portman is just lovely as always even with her head shaved clean. Hugo Weaving was real convincing as V even if he had to play behind the mask the whole time. The last battle scene was bullet time with knives and was just spectacular.
Next up was Hostel. Unknown cast and director but Quentin Tarantino had his hands involved in this one which alone gives reason to see the movie. Sort of what he did with Hero. In this one, he was actually the producer. The movie is creepy and I am wondering how much they cut out from the released version here in the Philippines. Will watch this again when I see a DVD copy somewhere, then I'd compare.
Something interesting happened while watching trailers for V For Vendetta. They were showing release dates of movies, 05.03.06, 05.26.06, etc. Then it came to me, wouldn't it be amazing to come up with a devil/hell/antichrist movie on 06/06/06. Then they showed this creepy trailer for a remake of The Omen, and I was like, Oh shit. I just hope it would be a decent movie at the least.
One more thing, as I was walking through Robinson's Metro East, I glimpsed at Frio Mix and saw her, my wonderful x. I passed by pretending I did not see her since I wasn't sure anyway. While watching V For Vendetta, I received a message asking if I was in Metro East and I said yes, and she mentioned that she was a Frio. I was amazed she noticed.
Anyway, we did talk a bit and she mentioned that she failed her thesis and would be taking it again on the second semester of the incoming school year. It was the first time I talked to her in person since before we even broke up.
Do not watch Date Movie even for the slightest thought (hope) that it could be funny. Yes, even if you like (love) Alyson Hannigan, don't. You'll do yourself a huge favor. In this case, curiosity really killed the cat.
I knew it would be a silly movie with stupid jokes, but I just did not expect this kind of mediocrity. Go watch Scary Movie instead or Not Another Teen Movie instead.
I mentioned dumbing down a bit after watching Oscar nominated movies for weeks, but this is simply too much. Do not watch this movie.
The trailer shed some bit of intrigue about the movie, but all the "good" parts were already in the trailer.
I just can't believe Alyson Hannigan is making these kinds of movies, American Wedding was ok to say the very best.
This also has to be the most grotesque and sick movie I have ever seen. Some of the scenes really threw me off and almost made me want to puke. Saw didn't have that effect on me.
The bad thing is not the money I spent on it (since I have oodles), it was the time. I only get to watch one movie in ages and I chose this one? I can't believe myself. Am going to make up for this by watching Hostel and V for Vendetta next week.
I finally figured out how to download trailers from
Apple and was surprised
at how easy it was. It was all a matter of changing the filename from say
xmenthelaststand_h.640.mov
to xmenthelaststand_h640w.mov
.
Of course, you would actually have to open the trailer website then view the
source and look for the mov link.
So far, I believe the w is required for the large versions, and the medium sized ones do not need the w. Then again, who wants to download a smaller video when you can easily download the better one.
Just downloaded the latest X3: Last Stand trailer yesterday. I am a happy boy. Oh, and if you haven't seen the trailer for A Scanner Darkly, you should really check it out.
Oh, and just so you know, I have dial-up so I would not be able to watch it only even at the smallest setting.
I hate working on weekends. One would expect workloads to be lighter on these days but if you've been were I have, you would understand how I feel.
Due to the low number of people staffed on weekends, the call volume can spike to an insanely high level with no one to fallback on and drain the living daylights out on anyone unlucky enough to report to work on a weekend.
Such was the case last night, and it was insane. From the start of the shift until the very end, the queue seemed limitless. Only for a few minutes around 5 in the morning did we get a breather. A breather in the sense that it did not last for more than 3 minutes.
4 work days to go and I am already drained. I know I am going to last the week. Knowing how is the real question.
I can't sleep yet right now since I am waiting for reruns of CSI at 12. Tomorrow, I'd be watching the Oscar's. Busy week it would be indeed.
And just so it would be mentioned, this date last year marked the first time, uhmmm, you know.
After a long and really draining work, I had my off last night. Split offs for the week which basically means I have work again tonight.
Amazing ain't it? You go home on your off, sleep then wake up the next day with work starting again in the evening. Day-offs during the night shift should really be called night offs, because you don't really get a calendar day off.
It felt kind of awkward and funny saying goodbye to a teammate of mine yesterday. See you tomorrow indeed.
Spent the time off sleeping, as I really needed it. As everyone knows, sleeping during the day does not hold a stick up against sleeping at night. One could sleep during the night for 3-5 hours and be charged up for a whole work day and even have sometime to watch a movie or kill someone/commit some crime.
This cannot be accomplished with even more than 5 hours of sleep during the afternoon, with the intense heat which makes sleeping more strenuous.
It's so draining and the fact that I am unable to watch anymore movies in the theaters does not help.
Did get to finish Wild Arms 4 which was shorter than expected at 33 hours. Sure I skipped the Battle Arena level and completing the treasure chest quest but the game is still short as I finish it in less than a months time which is quite fantastic considering I only get to play it during the day offs. So I guess it was not really that short, I just played through it quicker than most RPGs.
If the game had one major fault is that it was too bloody linear which would explain why I played through it so quickly. Still it was an extremely enjoyable experience. Right at the end, I was expecting a "Luke, I am your father." line, but am glad that they didn't.
This quest was completed around 4:30 in the morning and I stayed online and decided to sleep until 5:30 as my head was aching due to the eyeglasses I was wearing.
Woke up at 8 and my head is till aching. I'm planning to sleep after I have lunch so I would not feel so sleepy at work.
Sheesh. Another 5 day work week and nothing to look forward to during the week or after it. Pffft.
