What's the Title of the Damn Movie? [Sunday, November 2, 2003]
The moment I arrived home, I turned on the radio and listened to what was left of the NU 107 Rock Awards 2003 (btw, the dial is defaulted to NU 107 as it is the only radio station people I listen to).
Caught part of Razorback's performance, after which came the Song of the Year. Nominees were songs from PNE, Sugarfree, Cheese, Urbandub, Razorback, and Pan. Urbandub snatched the Song of the Year award with their song Soul Searching which comes from their second independent album. Much deserved.
Artist of the Year came next. This moment passed by so quickly, they did not even mention the nominees. After a bunch of sexual innuendos from the presenters, they went ahead and mentioned the winner.
Make a wild guess on who won? Who else but Parokya Ni Edgar, an award they have received for the third time in 5 years (1999, 2000, 2003). This is very much disappointing, counting more on the fame the band has achieved rather than the talent involved in producing their OWN type of music. Lame. Bloody lame.
Then again, it's what you'd expect from the NU 107 Rock Awards. For five straight years, bands who have achieved that kind of fame have won the awards. Well, only two bands in those five years have won the award, PNE (1999, 2000, 2003) and Slapshock (2001, 2002). I see a trend here.
Normally, the Artist of the Year would perform the last song to wrap up the event. Lucky for this year, being the 10th anniversary and all, Chicosci (what else but Magasin) and Razorback (Ang Huling El Bimbo) sang Eraserheads' songs as a tribute for them being acknowledged as rock legends. Sorry, forgot what the actual award or recognition is called, and I doubt it is Lifetime Achievement Award.
From the looks of it, I think I did not miss anything much, except for Urbandub's performance and a likely Diether Ocampo incident. If I did go, I'd be disappointed again, but as Mong Alcaraz put it, Award shows are nothing but hype.
Hmmmm. I wonder who won Album of the Year and Listener's Choice Award. I hope it ain't PNE.

Felt a little sleepier and tired today than usual, wherein by 9 in the evening, I was already longing for the bed.
Decided to update myself first, check mails and all that stuff I regularly do online. It's a Tuesday so I skipped the usual webcomic roundup as they are updated on M-W-F and thought to myself, this would be one quick peek at the net and of to dreamland I'd go.
Like all things in this world, or to be more specific, my life, things did not happen as I expected to. I had to be a little curious with that 6 degrees of connection bull and came across something I should have not opened (in this case, clicked). Lo and Behold, a Pandora's Box of multiple proportions. Since I opened it already, I made the most out of it and just indulged myself in senseless information which like I said, I should not have come across in the first place.
The end result: I cannot sleep even though my body is aching all over and my eyes are real heavy and near teary. The aching body was caused by my attempt to do 30 push ups before having a shower yesterday. Sure, I accomplished it, but it has been 67 days since I last stretched my muscles like that. Nonetheless, aching muscles and all are not enough to make me lull into dreamland. Damn Pandora's Box.
10th anniversary of the NU 107 Rock Awards tomorrow over at the World Trade Center in Pasay, and it seems that am going to miss it.
Good news came the moment I got home, Ramadan starts tomorrow and we can dress down at work meaning I don't have to worry about what I'd be wearing for the Rock Awards. Imagine attending the event in smart business attire. And yes, we work during holidays and signal whatsoever storms.
Then it came to me that something family stuff prevents me from attending the event. If I had my way, I would not attend the family gathering, but they know me as such a nice person and it would not be a great idea to ruin such a grand image.
Let's see what happens.
This year has been bad. Am missing out on traditions I have kept up for two years, the third year, spoils everything. Missed out on UP fair, Pulp Summerslam, NU 107's Party Monsters on the Loose, and some other gigs I don't know of. Next up would be the Rock Awards. Sadly, nothing is left for the rest of the year that I'd be able to attend so as to redeem my shattered soul.
Ah, there is still one. Lord of the Rings this December. That would do. That would do my friend. Premier tickets anyone?
Laziness is starting to creep back into my system (not sure where it has been, but it always been a part of me), as I said, there is no such thing as being too busy. It still holds some truth until now, even though I spent close to 4 (read FOUR) hours traveling to and from work. Am still able to update this journal, play videogames, do my M-W-F online routine, listen to music (MP3 and CD), watch movies (theater and video), and of course, go out and have a drink or two, or three, or more. Anyway, I spent to much time doing nothing, which I define as time I use thinking of which among these activities I need to attend to first.
Why ramble about such a thing? I still need to write reviews for Nuncy Spungen and Cambio's EPs which HAVE to be done by the end of the week.
Good luck to me.
Oh, and I have yet to close Pandora's Box. Or should I say, I took something from the Box, curious to see what would happen.
Sleepy yet? I think not, but this sure helped a bit.

Another tiring week wrapped up. One which was worse than any other week. Have never felt so tired and sleepy.
Opted not to attend Admit One down south, as I had no one to go with. Aside from that, I really needed some sleep which I finally got, though am still thinking if I would have met her again at the Admit One gig. Another question left unanswered.
Got out of bed when I could not sleep anymore, and that was around 11 in the morning.
Played Castlevania right after, had lunch, and played Castlevania until I finished the game. That was one wonderful experience, I could only wish I could play the game again, but my next task lies ahead. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Legacy of Kain: Defiance are patiently waiting their chance to be played. Unfortunately, only one of them would be that lucky as next week I'd finally be playing Final Fantasy X-2: Another Story. Finally!
What weekend would be complete without the movies. Watched Primal Fear and The Pianist today, both amazingly great films. I like Primal Fear better not only because Edward Norton was in it, but the acting is superb. I can see why he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for this film. The Pianist is a remarkable story of survival during World War II. Adrien Brody won Best Actor for the role of Wladyslaw Szpilman. It's a shame the movie was never released to the public here in the Philippines.
Day off again tomorrow and I already have it all planned out. One whole day of videogaming goodness.
Shucks. I almost forgot. I need to write reviews of Nuncy Spungen and Cambio's EPs for Altercation. I wonder how I would be able to accomplish that, or shall I say, have the time for that tomorrow with my hectic schedule and all.

Vampire Name: Camuel Beau Pre.
Known in some parts of the world as: Thanatos of Bats and Shadows.
Slipping amongst the shadows, flitting between dark places, always quiet.
Cool name. Cool description. If you want to know your vampire name, click here.
Eyes are so heavy. The bed is so inviting. It's getting harder and harder to move. Muscles do not cooperate anymore. I need a good massage or atleast a full 8 hours sleep.
Too tired to think about what I should say here today, not that I am supposed to say anything or the fact anyone would care if I did or did not.
Let's just quote a song.
"Hate me now, so I can move on.
Make it easier to know that you're gone." -- The Things We'll Never Know by TBS
And while we're at that, I would just like to mentioned something. It was the 14th of the month a few days back, and for the first time since that faithful day I did not bother at all, did not care. Or maybe it was something else.
The random thoughts of puzzled and delusional mind.

Let's try this one more time, okay?
Again, it's SAVINGS not CURRENT. Understood Simon? I hope so, you are so undeniably stupid.
Mind the private conversation with myself.
Spent the day in quite an unusual way. Normally, I'd stay home playing videogames and listening to my MP3s, but this Monday was different and it is certainly a welcome change.
Am not going to go into the details of that, might as well leave a little mystery lingering around.
Of course, the day/week would not be complete without a movie. Yesterday, I saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and had Wrong Turn for today, two equally gruesome and disturbing films, but if you know me well, you'd also know that I live on stuff like this.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is based on a true story which happened in the 70s. The story revolves mainly on a group of five teens who stumbled across this bizarre town. Nothing much of the story was given out, just senseless killing and sawing.
The same could be said with Wrong Turn, a movie about a group of so-called freaks living in the mountains killing people who are unlucky enough to make that wrong turn (insert pun here).
I am not going into an in-depth discussion of each flick since for me, they are very similar, probably the only difference would be the fact of one being based on a true story and the other is fictional. To make things interesting, let's compare the two and check out their similarities.
These are the points I could think off right now, there maybe others, but I refuse to think farther than that. Overall, I enjoyed the films because of the violence, blood, and gruesomeness. Much as to be desired for with regards to the story. It would have been nice to delve deeper on the story of why these characters turned out the way they are, killing machines with no mercy at all. Both flicks showed glimpses of why they do what they do, but a bunch of news articles about genetic deformities is not enough.
Regardless, I enjoyed both flicks mainly because am quite sadistic and a lot goes on in this wonderful mind of mine. Luckily, I don't express it at all. And if I had to pick one from the two flicks, I'd choose The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Reality is much creepier than fiction.
Window shopping was tiresome, to say the least, but at the same time depressing. There is a bunch of stuff that I want to buy soon. Here's a brief list.
Man, that is a brief list. Those are the gadgets I want right now, and I want all of them.
At the end of the day, I finally figured out the whole deal regarding current and savings. Bought a copy of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, a game spoken highly off over at Penny Arcade. FHM 2004 calendar was also available so you'd guess I would not let the opportunity to buy one pass. Scooted over to Tower and grabbed my copy of The Underworld OST as well as a copy of LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring DVD, which I have yet to watch.
The DVD came with a free poster, and the Customer Service guy asked me which poster I wanted. Asked what options I had and he said I had a choice between Legolas or Gollum. Needless to say, I picked Gollum, the inspiration behind my monologue page, over girly elf Legolas.
I would not be could dead having a poster of Legolas in my room.

A friend at work invited us to his place since it was the feast day there. I, on the other hand, never invite people over during feast days because it is something I am hardly proud about. This friend though was really proud of inviting us and showing us around the place, his barangay, and after spending sometime there, I can see why.
Barangay Ugong is probably one of the most organized barangays in the country, maybe even the most, I don't go around the country checking out each place so I'll just say it's the best among those I have seen or heard of. The barangay is quite complete, fire trucks, ambulance, roving police/security teams, a radio system for announcements for the whole barangay, rescue teams, etc. Name it, and Barangay Ugong has it. Even cities in this country don't come this close, and to think it's just one small barangay.
It wasn't exactly the feast day yesterday, just the night before it. Like any other feast days, there are shows and last night was the battle of the bands. The stage itself and the event was really organized. Unfortunately, we had to go home early and got to watch only one band which were the winners last year.
Over at work, there is this campaign that requires us to speak in English though there is no penalty if you don't. It's quite funny as we talk to customers all day in English, but find it quite bothersome to chat with colleagues in English. For me it's like an instinct, knowing that this particular person can understand me in the local dialect negates the need of using the English language. First day of the campaign and at the start we were particularly quiet, but later on in the day and after adapting a bit, we were back to our noisy little selves.
Whew.
Day-off again. Things to do: Play Castlevania: LOI, upload this thing, read webcomics, watch the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, read FHM, go out with someone. Hectic schedule. Lot's of things to do, so little time.

I hate the transportation system of this country. It is so undependable and instable. On a good day, you'd be so freaking early but on a bad day with almost an hours allowance, you'd still be freaking late.
Am ranting because I was two minutes late yesterday, and this morning I had this real bad feeling that I would be. Hit or miss situation. Due to this am going to adjust my clock, so that I'd leave home 30 minutes earlier than usual, just to be extra sure that I'd get to work on time, way ahead of time.
What's an hour spent in the office waiting for my shift to start, right? Would also a good opportunity to finish Bob Ong's book.
Since I mentioned reading, let's talk about just that. Almost a month ago, I purchased a book that I have yet to touch and sit down with. Like I mentioned before, I still have to go through the stack of FHM magazines on my table, and since that day I mentioned I should start finishing them, I have yet to finish one.
I should shut up now and continue reading the July issue of FHM.

No person can be more dumb than I.
Fine.
Let's be nice, but there are times that it may seem so true.
With nobody to wake me up this morning, I set the alarm clock supposedly at 3:45 am and the alarm on my cellular phone at 3:40 am. Heard the phone alarm first, and since I knew that the alarm clock would click on anytime soon, I just stayed there in bed and dozed off to count more sleep. For some reason, I did not just return to sleep but something in me was waiting for the alarm clock to sound off. So with all curiosity, I checked what time it was supposed to alarm, it said 4:45 am. Surprise surprise. Good thing it was only 4:25 in the morning, still enough time to do the daily morning routine.
Whew.
As for work, I am starting to get really frustrated, not because of the work itself, but rather on myself. It seems that every time I aim for something I instantly fail down hard even before the moment it started. Foolish to even think I could ever aim for anything in this lifetime, or any other lifetime for that matter, even in my next lifetime as a bloody pig. This is probably one of the reasons, albeit the main reason why I have no plans for the future. For crying out loud, I cannot even picture what I'd become after a year or two. Pathetic.
"This is my life and it's ending one day at a time."
Perfect.
I like this better though.
"It is not failure that is hard to bear, it is the feeling of being a failure."
Nothing else ever made so much sense.

It's amazing how I am so confused on what to do with my free time, when in fact, there are tons of stuff I can do starring me back in the face. But, NO. I always find myself sitting down, starring at nothingness, thinking of what I should prioritize.
Today, was another such day, and after much thought, I picked to watch a few videos rather than opt to play videogames or waste my time in front of the PC.
On the list today, in chronological order, were a DVD of Down with Love, and VCDs of 25th Hour and The Big Hit.
I was actually watching Down with Love last night, but someone called a few minutes into the movie, which is the reason I watched it first. The PS2 was playing up a little and give me quite a hard time to make the DVD be detected, but with a little patience, it eventually detected the damn DVD. I must invest in a good DVD player or DVD-ROM drive for watching DVDs, as it may degrade my PS2. Right now, a DVD-ROM is the more viable option since my CD-ROM refuses to work anymore. Plus the display of the PC is larger than that of the television sets at home.
Anyway, Down with Love is a cute movie. It's made in such a way that makes it "cute", it's a nice colorful representation of Manhattan in the 1960s. The set, the costumes, the music, the ambience, etc. all add up to this "cute-ness" and I liked it. As for the story, it's pretty mind boggling to the point where it gets quite absurd. Come on, would you believe a person would ever have such a well-laid-out plan to catch someone. I don't think so. Sure, it was a cool idea and it was quite surprising when it was first revealed, but the second time was not as charming as the first. It's a good thing I don't watch these movies in theaters, it's a definite rental for me. Squinty-eyed Renee Zellweger was simply alluring in this movie. Though it does not come close to how simple she looked in Jerry Maguire, it has been a long time since she has looked this good in a movie.
Next up, Spike Lee's 25th Hour. Now this movie I liked a lot and not just because Edward Norton was in it but I'd say it was masterfully done. The story was fascinating and kept me hooked. The story opened with Norton saving the life of a dog which he later on mentioned was one of the best things he ever did in his life. Every day the dog lives from that day was because of him. It may not be the central point of the story, but it was moving. Another magnificent part came near the end of the film when he was asking a special favor from his best friend. It's something you would not want to do. I wonder when this movie was released and if it ever was released in the country. Who cares, I bought the video CD for only 75 pesos, and mind you, it's not a bootleg copy. If you ever stumble across this, you should watch it for yourself. Highly recommended.
At the bottom of the list was The Big Hit which I purposely watched last since it I knew it was an action movie. This was a fun movie which I enjoyed a lot, especially with China Chow starring in it as a Japanese school girl. She's so adorable. As well as Cristina Applegate. This is the type of movie one would enjoy despite the senseless events within the movie and contains what you'd expect in an action-comedy movie. The video rental store in the movie is a place I'd call heaven and would love to have easy access to.
Finished all the videos by 4 in the afternoon, quite early if you think about it, since I had lunch in between.
With free time to burn, the PS2 grinned at me, inviting me to play Castlevania once more. I found that grin too hard to resist.

What an night last night was.
3 separate groups. 3 different stories.
Met up with wavemates right after work, unfortunately, only 5 were able to come, but we still made the most of it. Ate dinner at Something Fishy in City Walk Eastwood, chatted for a couple of hours and then decided to have go home. It was around 8 pm then, and I had no plans of going home yet, had two more places to go to.
Walked to Krocodile Grill in Libis and met up with some college friends. Ate again. After the meal, everyone wanted to go elsewhere, choosing between videoke or bowling. Minutes later, everyone settled to just go bowling at Astrobowl in Magallanes. As a first time bowler, I could say that it was a fun experience though my fingers and wrist is still aching. This is what happens when you don't use your muscles at all. After three games or so, everyone decide to call it a night.
Yeah, except for me. One more stop on my list, Freedom Bar in Anonas.
Admit One celebrated their 2nd year anniversary and there was a ton of bands performing as well as a crowd of people who came over to watch the gig. I have no knowledge of who played that night but according to altercation (or shall I say, altersation, as Jorel of Happy Meals put it) the guest bands were Kamikazee, Betrayed, Chicosci, Imago, Itchyworms, Lester Canon, Nuncy Spungen, and Urbandub. Of course, the Admit One bands were there, namely, Sugarfree, Dicta License, Twisted Halo, and Fatal Posporos. Nuncy Spungen and Urbandub came all the way from Cebu.
A lot of merchandise were available, t-shirts, graphic novels, pins, and let's not forget album and EPs, as I spent a good sum of money on CDs. Grabbed copies of Urban Dub's 2nd album, Nuncy Spungen (last copy for the night), Matilda, and Cambio's EPs. 4 CDs for the price less than that of 2 audio CDs released by record labels. Cool.
Urbandub capped off the night, and man, these guys are popular. Rockstars? =)
The gig ended before 3 in the morning, and it was still too early to go home, so we dropped by an eatery for some chow. Went home by 4, arrived at home by 6, and had a good long sleep.

Huh? What happened? You mean, that was it?!
Finally had the chance to watch The Matrix Revolutions yesterday and what can I say about it.
One word, disappointing.
It did not end the way I expected it to end which is in some grandiose improbable way, shocking the audience with the same feeling when people first watched the first movie. The "inevitable" ending was shocking in a way that you would expect more from the creators of The Matrix. Sure, it ended in a realistic way, the kind of thing that happens in the real world, and by that I mean OUR world, but this is a movie, THE MATRIX at that, and it should have been better than that.
The movie as a whole, except for the inevitable ending, was great. The movie was well-paced, action sequences were flying in at all directions. If the first movie was all about the matrix, this movie was about the real world, the machine city and Zion. Scenes that featured the real world were awesome. Dark machine infested worlds, hovercraft chases, mechs and machines a plenty. This was the movies saving grace for me, I've been hoping since The Matrix to see more of the real world, and they did not let me down.
Over at the matrix world, they decided to go all out since at this point everyone knows Neo and Agent Smith are in a computer program, ERGO, could do anything they wish too. The effects here were highly unbelievable, but the concept that they are in a computer program makes it a little easier to swallow.
As for the other stunts and scenes in the movie, there is certain "been-there-done-that" feeling. A good example is the lobby scene of the Merovingian's bar.
The main reason to watch is to finish up the series, especially those who were disappointed by the ending of Reloaded.
Nonetheless, nothing beats the original movie, but this trilogy would live in the hearts and minds of each person today. The Starwars of this generation.
Need to stop now. Am not making sense at all.

This is not right.
Less than 30 minutes left before the worldwide release of The Matrix Revolutions and am stuck here at home since there is no decent cinema within a 40 kilometer radius. If only I lived closer to a mall, I'd be watching the movie today instead of waiting for tomorrow. Am usually present during opening days especially for big blockbuster movies such as this.
Oh well, these things don't happen that often.
Can't wait for tomorrow though, as I'd probably watch it after work and pick a time that would work just fine and be early so I can get good seats. Of course, am going to watch this in my favorite cinema, Robinsons Metro East's Movieworld. I wonder how many times I'd watch this one in the theaters. Hmmm...
Saw a billboard of Liberated, a movie starring Diana Zubiri and Francine Prieto, and I have to say that am somewhat enticed to see it just because of her. Guess it was also released today. I rarely watch Filipino movies in theaters, let's see what happens with this one. If given some idle time which fits comfortably for a movie, I wonder if I'd choose a second (third?) viewing of The Matrix Revolutions over this flick. I wonder.
I am so freaking tired. Am just gonna upload this and go to sleep. Wonderful world, isn't it?
| |
Just because I don't have a girlfriend at the moment does not mean that I am not interested in girls. Right? You don't know me. =)
Got a lot of these comments during my grandfather's wake as my brother's fiancé was present and was being introduced to everyone. People even thought he was the older brother since he was getting married already but were surprised to find out who was the older one and the fact that I was not in a relationship by then.
Man, I am still young and I don't see myself being married within the next five years. Confidence issues and more. Besides, life's so freaking great, just don't let the loneliness get you. I need not worry about loneliness since I have almost perfected it.
It's relieving that all they are saying is that am not interested in girls and relationships YET and not thinking otherwise.
Time to sleep. Am tired and I think am going to be sick.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Had almost the whole day and house for myself, and what better way to make the most of it than do everything I want with no one around to disrupt me or tell me to shut up.
With The Matrix Revolutions around the corner, it was about time for me to catch up and prepare for the finale. With no one to bug me at all, it was the perfect time to watch The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded. Thanks to the subtitles that came with the DVD copy of Reloaded, I understood the story a bit better, especially the scene with the architect. It was all good, I just wish I watched on a real TV. I don't consider 14 inches to be a television.
Had lunch while watching Reloaded. Ate the meal of champions, Instant Noodles. Yum yum!
Finished the two movies around 2 in the afternoon. At this point, I was in quite a predicament of what I should do next. Haven't touched my PC in a long time and thought of writing a monologue. In the other room lay a copy of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.
Nostalgic bits of information suddenly hit me hard on the head. Wonderful thoughts of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night rushed up my head like boiling steam ready to burst out. And before I knew it, I was playing the game for 4 hours.
Needless to say, I loved the game. I was instantly hooked. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was a 2-D side-scrolling game, and Castlevania has always been like that, so one would doubt if they would be able to create a game with the classic Castlevania feel in full 3-D. Of course, they need to do this without the game looking or playing like a Devil May Cry clone.
Konami has done a great job adapting the game into full 3-D. The classic Castlevania feel is certainly there and at times it almost feels like your playing it in 2-D. The music, the levels, the enemies, items, magic, and everything else is so truthfully Castlevania. Rooms and levels gives players a nostalgic feeling, one where you remember the same exact room from previous games except that this time your viewing it in 3-D. übercoolness.
It's safe to say that it does not play like Devil May Cry. It does not even come close to that. Lots of actions, items to collect and secret characters to unlock means lots of replay value. One gripe though is the camera as it can get pretty annoying at times since it does not span around your character to reveal the whole model and can get quite awkward when your trying to jump on ledges using your whip.
Regardless, it is a real solid game, introducing Castlevania to 3-D at the same time, maintaining the classic feel of the game which made the series so popular. With work ruining my life, it is hard to find the time to play it again. Rest assured, if given the chance, I'll play it more.
Amusing. A videogame review. That's something new.
Stopped playing when my hands were starting to get numb, plus, I was expecting my mom to come anytime soon. And so I decided to stop playing, and gave my eyesight an additional 5 minutes added to its lifespan.
Nah, I did not. After I finished with the PS2, I moved on to the PC. Minus one hour to my eyes lifespan.
Later that night, I watched Scary Movie 3. It was fun and definitely better than the second one. There are no Wayans in the film, and I guess that worked to their advantage. In it's first week of release, it raked in $50+ million, setting a new record for October releases. Beat that tough guy.

What's the Title of the Damn Movie?
Last blogged on the 28th, and just like that it's November already. The months have quickly passed unnoticeably and two months from now, we are dawned with a new year. Oh, and let's not forget about Christmas. I have a lot of stuff on my list (wish list) for Christmas.
Right now am plagued with the idea of how I should blog 5 days worth of events. Might as well talk about a couple of movies I've seen and we'll see where that would lead us.
Caught Identity last Wednesday, and it is a really interesting movie with a very nice and surprising (disturbing twist at the end). The plot is well paced, which would keep you hooked and longing for something. Bah! I really suck at writing reviews. It is yet another movie that features John Cusack in the rain.
Thursday was hell. Everyone wanted to go home, the streets were crowded and everything. I hate crowds. So I decided to pass by Megamall and watch some flick.
Picked a movie which right now, I can not remember the title, not even the actors/cast hold any significant thought in my head, but I am sure I watched one last Thursday. I don't know if it was really THAT bad of a movie, I am just having a real hard time remembering what movie it is. Narcolepsy, no doubt.
There was a crowd outside. Let me rephrase that in a more appropriate way. There was a MOB outside. The last leg for Oktoberfest was ongoing and everyone was having fun. Damn, I wanted to drink but I had to be a good boy and go home. Shucks!
Friday was different. It was impulsive-shopper-Simon-day. Spent a month's salary on all sorts of things I don't really need. PS2 games, a digital optical cable that I can't use, FHM November issue, and things I don't even remember. Another fit of narcolepsy.
First dropped by the audio-video store and purchased a digital optical cable for that added kick of watching DVDs and playing videogames in Dobly Digital 5.1 only to find out later the stupidity of it. All I knew was my component and PS2 both had optical jacks
While browsing thru the cds, I stumbled across a copy of Drag-on Dragoon, the Japanese version of a game known outside Japan as Drakengard. The moment I saw it, my eyes popped out and drool started to involuntarily drip from my mouth. It is a game am eagerly waiting for, sadly the American release is around March of 2004. It is a sad life indeed. Settled with copies of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence and Jax II.
In the trailers I watched, one was for a movie by Diana Zubiri and some luminously white and tall newbie named Francine Prieto. Sensing that a November issue of FHM is out already, I made I wild guess who the cover would be. Passed by one of the magazine stands and much to my surprise. It was her on the cover. Cool! Impulsive tendencies kicked in and I asked for a copy without even looking at the magazine on the rack.
Got home all excited and hyped up about the magazine and of course, the digital optical cable. Browsed through the manuals for the PS2 and component only to find out that they are both optical outputs. Checked the machines to see if my eyes were deceiving me. They were not, BOTH optical outputs. Had the time, so I tried it out anyway. As expected, it did not work. It's like expecting two gay couples to produce an offspring, it's impossible but people still try it.
Broken down and depressed at my own stupidity, reading the manuals after purchasing something incompatible with what I have. Downright dumb. Marveled at my own stupidity and impulsiveness, I was stuck with a cable I could not use. For now that is.
Pulled out the copy of FHM and *poof* depression was turned into bliss.
