3 Hours On My Skinny Butt [Tuesday, October 31, 2006 @ 9:55 pm]

Another 3 hour trip home today which was really annoying as I really wanted to get some more play time with Final Fantasy XII.

It normally takes around 2 hours just to get home in the afternoon. Today, was a little longer. Apparently, there was this truck which broke down in Antipolo blocking the road and no one could pass. So most vehicles used the long way home which is an entirely different route which is normally just longer.

Unfortunately, it was October 31 and everyone seemed to be at the biggest cemetery in Angono which conveniently happens to be along the National Road.

It was hot, sweaty, dusty and annoying. It was like hell on earth. My skinny butt is not accustomed to the hard seats in some of the local jeeps. At several instances I just wanted to whip out my PSP and play some video games but it's too shiny.

Over at work, they announced opening for job bids for Team Leader and TOICs (Team Officer-In-Charge). Thanks, but I think it's a little too late. Also, it's uncertain which program you would end up in which would be alright but there is no assurance where you would be placed in terms of location which could be be Libis, Makati or Alabang.

Enough of this now, I need my Final Fantasy fix.

Not Quite The Final Straw [Monday, October 30, 2006 @ 7:28 pm]

Work seems to be pulling all the stops in driving me out before the 13th month pay comes out.

I filed for 11 days of leave in November. A few weeks ago, I received an email saying I have been plotted for all 11. Nice, right?

Apparently, this was not the case. Due to expected increases in call volumes, they decreased the number of persons allowed for leaves especially on weekends. So now, out of the 11 days I filed, I only got plotted for 5 freaking days with the remaining 6 in waitlist.

Fuck!

This is after I filed them way back in September. I know things could change like they did when I got home from Tuguegarao.

Supposedly, a leave I applied for back then did not go through. We just came home from Tuguegarao and I was contemplating if I would just be absent. I ended up choosing to be absent at the very last minute because I could have easily slipped into work if I really needed to. Around 8 in the morning, I found out that as of the latest update, my leave for the said date did push through and I would not be marked.

Imagine the frustration if I actually showed up for work to find this out. Sick.

This time I am going to disappear. I don't care if there is a chance I have to show up for work. Fuck them.

Oh, and they opened slots for the month of December today so I applied for 4 more from December 8-11 so I would not have to show up for work on my birthday. 8 and 11 pushed through but 9 and 10 are on wait list. Amazing stuff, right?

Am also most at the point of breaking, thinking about resigning before the 13th month pay is out but am not going to loose out to you.

Work to live and not live to work. Damn you!

At The Edge Of Sanity [Saturday, October 28, 2006 @ 5:48 am]

Work is really getting on my nerves lately. The events today made things even more miserable, frustrating and annoying.

They released schedules good until today, but suddenly changed it on their whim yesterday.

There I was longing for a two day off after 5 excruciating days of work (Sunday and Monday) and on the second to the last day, tell me the schedule changed.

Now, if you read through it again, you would notice my day off comes one day earlier than usual which should be a great and wonderful thing and thus make me happy, right? Also, it should be noted that this week I already had 3 days off and 4 work days.

Well, in most cases the answer would be yes, but the catch is that I would have one day off and then work for another 5 freaking days before getting 2 days off. This is if they stick to the initial schedule they released and do not change again on their whim.

It's not like this has not happened in the past, as it did and even when I already had plans to go out since I knew I'd be on off, but am not feeling too well and have been barking like a bloody dog for 4 days now due to a cough coupled with a cold. I needed that off. Then again, if I push myself too much this may just develop into a full blown sickness or fever which would then mean being absent on work days. I think they'd love this more.

Damn. I already travel 4 hours a bloody day to get to and from work and they can't even give me the rest days I deserve.

On a positive note, in the VERY rare event wherein the schedule and day offs would stick, they would fall squarely before the leaves I have planned in November thus extending my vacation. This will not happen though.

I could have swapped with a teammate but this would mean I would have to readjust the following week so why even bother, not like the schedule would stick though.

Oh bollocks, now I have one day to rest and sleep till noon (the only way I could sleep long enough) which would mean I would not be able to sleep in the evening and thus start the week off on the wrong foot again and be miserable for another 5 days.

Great. Here's looking forward to getting sick this work week.

It's About Bloody Time [Monday, October 23, 2006 @ 2:03 pm]

Great work PLDT!

A month after the typhoon which was locally named "Milenyo", our phone line finally has a bloody dial tone. Amazing isn't it?

And here I was expecting them not to fix it until the end of the year. One month. That's what you call excellent service. We would gladly pay the month's charges for both the phone and the unlimited internet we never used for one freaking month!

Cheers to you PLDT. Damn, if we only had a choice.

So there, this explains why I haven't been blogging and stuff.

Actually, before this incident my old monitor died so I had to purchase a new one. Opted for a surplus one at Save On Surplus. 3000 for a 17" monitor, not bad.

Then when I had everything hooked up, I had problems connecting to the Internet using PLDT Vibe. The voice said "This service feature is not available on this phone." Fuck! Apparently, we were a little late to pay the bill and they immediately cut the service.

A few days later the typhoon hit. Two days after, the dial tone was back which was a bloody good thing since this meant no lines where damaged but still no Vibe. Same message. 171 was hopeless since everyone was complaining due to lines destroyed by Milenyo.

Purchased a netcard but when I got home the dial tone was out. It wasn't just us but a part of the town as well. Maybe they blew some box while trying to fix the lines in other areas. The weird thing was you could call our number and the phone would actually ring but when you picked it up, there was nothing to be heard.

I lost all hope they would ever fix it, even my mom so we decided to leave it be. The funny thing was we had no idea it was ok until some neighbor asked if they could use the phone and when my mom tried to pick up the phone, the dial tone was back. Amazing.

Now, time to catch up on everything I missed. Oh noes!

Well, this post has two purposes.

One, to explain what happened and where I have been in the last month lest you thought I was dead. Come to think of it, this would actually be a good thing compared to not thinking of me or wondering at all.

Two, to explain why I would disappear online for a month or so for one simple reason, Final Fantasy XII. In fact, I call it NON-Final Fantasy XII due to the obscure battle scheme. Still a lovely game though.

And BTW, if you are not into Final Fantasy XII or have already finished it, be sure to grab a copy of Okami a bloody wonderful game brought to you by the same game studio which made the beautiful uhmmm Viewtiful Joe.

Bye now, I need to check into Ivalice.
