Blind Love - Quotes

-Mac and Carol are in their witness protection flat, at night, preparing food. (The flat is monitored with cameras.)

Carol: Do you have a boyfriend?
Mac: Oh I’m, I’m seeing someone, yeah. Well I was, before all this. I mean who know what’ll happen now. If I’m re-located they’re talking Cairns or Broome! You know, back-a-Bourke!
Carol: That’d be a test wouldn’t it. To see if he’s prepared to go with you, change his life. (Peter walks into the room at the Factory, so he can see and listen to what Mac is talking about!)
Mac: Well all relationships involve give and take, mostly I give, he takes!
(Laughter)
Mac: I sometimes think it’s the biggest mistake of my life. You know we’re total opposites really.
Carol: They say opposites attract.
Mac: I’m talking chalk and cheese here Carol! I mean different interests, lifestyles, completely different backgrounds. And certainly someone I never would have met unless I came across him though work.
Carol: It doesn’t sound very hopeful!
Mac: We get along…
Carol: Well there must be some attraction…?
Mac: Oh yeah, oh yeah, he’s attractive all right! (Peter smiles to himself as he continues to watch.) No doubt about that very sexy. Strong willed sometimes a little out of control. No I used to; I used to like the way he’d take risks, now I have to admit it scares me a bit. Mind you he’s not as good in bed as he thinks he is!
(Peter looks very taken aback!)
Carol: That doesn’t sound like a relationship Emma, it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!
Mac: Well who knows, basically I think he likes life by himself better than he likes life with me. (Peter half shakes his head.)
Carol: What you don’t spend much time together?
Mac: We can’t, not possible.
Carol: Because he’s married?
Mac: To the job!
Carol: (Nods.) I know that feeling. Umm you said you were here because you trusted a man…?
Mac: Yeah, yeah that was an earlier boyfriend, Simon. Didn’t last that long and, shortly after we split up he came and told me that his new girlfriend had accused him of raping her. Ah…it seemed ridiculous. Simon wasn’t a violent man; I’d seen no sign of it anyway so I couldn’t believe it. And he assured me that this girl was lying. But he didn’t have an alibi, so I went to the police and told them he was with me the night the rape was supposed to have happened.
Carol: And you were wrong?
Mac: (Nods) 6 months later he raped someone else. I got it wrong.
Carol: And now he’s threatening you?
Mac: (Nods) yeah…. Do you mind if I have a smoke?

-Mac and Carol are in the local indoor heated pool. Oscar and Angie follow them around just to make sure they are safe. Oscar is drinking a can of something and reading the paper when Ange walks over.
Angie: Chip?
Oscar: Ta.
Ange: They said they might try the gym out later, I thought I might join them!
(Angie takes her chips back!)

-Pete and Mac are in a car on the way to the witness protection flat where Carol is.
(Mac is getting out of the car)
Peter: Chalk and cheese ay!
Mac: (Turns to face him.) Don’t take me so literally Peter I was just building a cover story!
Peter: For the record, I don’t really prefer life by myself!
(Mac nods, almost laughing.)
Mac: Well…like I said, who knows what’ll happen! (She gets out of the car.)
