Sugarpill
A very short 2 piece "fleshing out" story-lette, I sadly lost the first part of this and only have the second. Fortunately the second piece manages to capture the energy of the story, and the two main characters, Sugarpill and her male accomplice, had more a relationship which was built up in the first piece.
| Regardless, here it is, in it's singularity. "Three"
| This short three piece started off as a story about a magical race of beings who were intrinsically tied to a specific gem that held their life force. If one were smashed, the other would perish, so the race smothered everywhere they lived with all the different kinds of gems they could find, so the chances were nigh impossible of any single gem being destroyed in such a way.
| The piece focused on one such being who had 2 brothers that considered themselves immortal and had begun a war against the humans, while their just as powerful sister lived a life of lower-standing as penance for her brothers ways. It focuses slightly on the interaction between humans and the magical race, which is undoubtedly one of mistrust from humans toward them, and contempt from them to humans. I only wrote three pieces to this, and luckily they're all here. Egg
| An interesting, comedic piece I started a while ago. This is mostly an experiment in building character for a group, namely the goblins who're so present in the first two parts of this 3 piece.
| The third part really fails to shine, simply because I haven't refined it at all, and most likely should, but most probably wont. Saila/Martyn
| A very interesting piece next, this was certainly inspired by Chuck Palahniuk's work, and really doesn't get much of it's story told, while still leaving the reader with a sense of what has happened.
| Of particular interest is the two main characters and their claims about one another, because much like the works themselves having no actual order (I wrote the pieces as I had ideas for them) the characters don't ever actually manage to come to a conclusion. That is, who of them actually exists. Saila is pronounced "say-il-a." There's six pieces to this story-lette, and while I present in an order here, you may read as you see fit. Stronghold
| This next piece is the very beginnings of my story, the one that I planned to write and slowly cobbled together from all the works I did over at darklights.com, a fantasy forum. Even though this is only two pieces deep, I felt a start was better than nothing.
| It follows the day of the beginning of the first adventure of any of the Stronghold children, one of which is named Lain, despite being male. The short two-piece follows his adventures of leaving the house, and what happens shortly thereafter. I've started this story over and over again, from different characters perspective and different times in the entire story, and to some interesting effect but nothing I've felt really solid on. There are twelve children in the Stronghold family each with their own tales to tell, so naturally it's complicated work. "Swallow"
| This piece is very short and I can't recall much about it. I seem to think it was around the time I saw quite a few vampire movies in a row, so that may help explain the extremely gothic attitude of it.
| "Swallow" is the nickname of the would-be assassin in this piece, and is most certainly up for ridicule, as seen by my opening line for the piece. Millief's Blade
| Millief's Blade has been the most successful piece of writing I've ever managed to do, and it was co-written with Darren Pearce, a good friend of mine. We stormed the concept of the book during school holidays once, and after a lot of ground work we began writing, which meant I wrote and Darren fine-proofed.
| We have five pieces of the work to date, which I had forgotten about until recently. I have also lost all the character information that we first put together, which I dearly hope to recover some day, but atleast we have as much as has been written. The concept is that a sibling pair of incredibly powerful people combined their attributes to make an ultimate weapon, Millief's Blade. An axe on the outside, it is said to bestow it's wielder a knowledge so great the weapon is deemed entirely useless by comparison. The story follows a group of adventurers and their track across a many great lands to find Millief's Blade, and uncover the legend for themselves. |

All stories are in .zip format, which means you'll need Winzip to open them, and then the individual parts are in rich text format (rtf). Unless there is only one piece to it, in which case it's a single .rtf file.
Enjoy! Fox Murdoch.
