Whimsy

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.'

from Jabberwocky By Lewis Carroll

  These pages are self-indulgant and experimental. They generally consist of poems or prose that have been illustrated or illuminated. In some cases I have chosen music to play with the page. The use of CSS, DHTML, and fonts is generally specific to IE5 and other browsers have been ignored to some extent. I hope you enjoy it.
  Secret Love - Anon. A powerful love poem by an unknown medieval Irish poet.
  The time I've lost in wooing -
Thomas Moore.
A look back in humour of past tristes, faily easy to identify with. I chose Toulouse-Lautrecs 'The Englishman at the Moulin Rouge' to illustrate this and suggest the music 'Chique' compliments it.
  A years windfalls -
Christina Rossetti
Christina Rossetti is generally known for her love poems, but she has several pieces that describe the seasons in the best greeting card style. I chose this poem to experiment with dynamic HTML and style sheets.
  The good morrow -
John Done
A wistful look at lovers that perhaps married for position and sought love elsewhere.
  A Valediction: Forbidding mourning - John Donne

Another poem to read for those in love with anothers spouse. I wont even try to explain the double entendres :-)
Sticks & Stones home page Song - John Donne What a shock to find the love of your life shares her favours.
