This one year course is designed for adults with little or no experience of computers who want to use a computer competently. The course is structured around the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). This is an internationally recognised qualification in computer competency. The ECDL certifies that the holder has the knowledge and skill needed to use the most common computer applications effectively and productively. In addition to the ECDL qualification the course also incorporates Keyboard Skills and Customer Service Skills modules, which are certified by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC). Individual Career Guidance sessions are also provided on this course.
Job Opportunities: ECDL certification declares your computer skills and makes you readily mobile within Irish business and across the European Union. The formal certification is also valuable to employers to assess an employee or a potential employee’s skills.
Progression: Students may progress to the Advanced ECDL or to a wide range of other advanced computer courses.
