Hoexter is in Northrhine-Westfalia and has got 16,000 inhabitants.

It was already a trade and cultural centre by the year 1000, lying as it does at the crossroads of Medieval trade routes. Many affluent citizens, noblemen and merchants settled here, hence the profusion of beautiful town houses and places.

Impressive half-timbered buildings partly in the style of the Weser Renaissance, the embankment as a green belt and the splendid houses of wealthy middle-class citizens are typical of Hoexter. This charming old town centre has a number of specialist shops which invite you to take a stroll through history and do some shopping. The nearby former Imperial Abbey, today Corvey Castle, is apart of the European cultural heritage and it attracts more than 100,000 visitors a year.

The deanery belongs to one of the important buildings of Hoexter, which is built in the style of the  Weserrenaissance. The building is an example for excellent Handmade art. Today it is a building of the catholic church.

Fuerstenberg

Fuerstenberg is perched on a cliff nearly 300 feet high above the river Weser. From its dominant position, the castle offers spectacular views over the Weser valley.

From there you can walk through the Solling Hills and enjoy the wonderful nature. Fuerstenberg has also got a very famous porcelain manufactory. The goods are sold all over the world.

The china is produced and coloured in many different designs (for example: with flowers or with a thin gold plated border). The hand coloured fairytale characters are very popular, too. (for example: the pied piper of Hamelin, sleeping beauty, etc.).
