Francis, one of 11
children, lost his mother when he was only four years old. He was educated by
the Jesuits and, having been cured twice of serious illnesses, came to believe
that God was calling him to the religious life. He desired to join the Jesuits
but was turned down, probably because of his age, not yet 17. Following the
death of a sister to cholera, his resolve to enter religious life became even

The youth would like to thank all
those who attended the Valentine family dance. It was very well attended and
fun was had by all. We also would like to thank Mr Lachance for again providing the "tunes" for the
evening and the music man for being so patient with all our requests. We had so
much fun we'll likely be bugging Walter to do it again!
