WHAT SALT ILLUSTRATES

Jesus uses salt to illustrate three qualities that should be found in His people:

  1. We should remember God’s faithfulness, just as salt, when used with a sacrifice recalled God’s covenant with His people. ( Leviticus 2:13)
  2. We should make a difference in the ‘flavor” of the world we live in, just as salt changes the meat’s flavor (Matthew 5:13)
  3. We should counteract the moral decay in society, just as salt preserves food decay.

When we lose this desire to “salt” the eaerth with love and message of God, we become useless to Him.

CHRISTIANS AS SALT

Salt can lose it flavor.  When it gets wet and then dries, nothing is left but a tasteless residue.  Many Christians blend into the world and avoid the cost of standing up for Christ.  But Jesus says if Christians lose their distinctive saltiness, they become worthless.  Just as salt flavors and preserves food, we are to preserve the good in the world and bring new flavor to life.  This requires careful planning, willing sacrifice, and unswerving commitment to Christ’s kingdom.  But if a Christian fails to be “salty”, he or she fails to represent Christ in the world.

HOW SALTY ARE YOU?

LET US PRAY

We offer prayers today for all of our sick.  Please remember to pray for Jordan Myers, Gaston Sanders, Kendra Lea, Gerry Wood, Leah Beattie, Henry Knaggs, Anne Halabicki, Elsie Hink, Janette Warnock, Marcel Knockaert, and Liz Burroughs.

Please pray for our Good Shepherd, Archbishop Emilius Goulet, Bishop of the Archdiocese of St. Boniface.

MASS INTENTIONS

Please remember to offer Masses for your special intentions; especially your departed loved ones.  Also, please pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in Canada.

We need to be close to Jesus Christ in his Eucharistic Sacrifice.

If you would like a Mass said, please see Father Joe.

Did you know that Pope John Paul II declared this year as the year of the Rosary?

To pray the Rosary is a way to be with Jesus and Mary.  We are meditating on their life from the Gospels.

You are invited to join us Tuesday-Friday 8:40 a.m. all year to recite the Rosary.

PEROGY MAKERS

The perogy sales have been a huge success again this past year. There are MANY people to thank for their WEEKLY dedication. Thank you to the perogy sellers, potato peelers, perogy packers, dough makers, dough rollers, perogy pinchers, fabulous kitchen staff, those who order the supplies and those coordinating orders. This couldn't happen without everyone's cooperation. Thank you !! They will resume making perogies in January 13, 2004.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

On behalf of the CWL executive we would like to thank all members of the CWL and other members of our parish who so generously donated baking or monies towards our 2003 Christmas Tea & Bake Sale.  All our funds are channeled back to the parish, our new kitchen fund, our catechetic program, our youth program and various community and international charities.  It is by your generous donation that we are able to do so.  So, again thank you.  Our profit for this year is approximately $1,130.89 - a great profit.

Winners of our dainty door prize was Janet Wiebe of Morden and the dainty raffle was Kathy Ritchie of Morden and Ann Yurchak - one of our own parish members.  Coongratulations.
