The CHARACTER portion of the application will give the Commanding Officer and idea of the applicants writing ability. The more complete and interesting the application, the better the initial rank aboard the ship. The game is set in 2379 so to work out the personal history a player should count back from that date (example a 40 year old would have been born in 2339 and could not have served on a Defiant class Starship in 2360 as they were not invented yet in 2360.) Regarding ages, some characters races are shorter or longer (example a Vulcan can live many hundreds of years.)
