Carp Party 2003 - January 11, 2003
St. Nicholas Church, Detroit, Michigan

The Annual “Carp Party” 2003 was a huge success: a large crowd, good food, good drink, good music, and a good time! A variety of constant entertainment carried the evening away. The main entertainment featured traditional Rusyn music, as well as music of our neighbors (Hungarians, Gypsies, etc.) The musicians and singers demonstrated exceptional versatility, with instrumentation and arrangements. The fire and spirit of the music swept the crowd away. A group of wandering musicians came in during dinner and provided classic and sentimental melodies for everyone to enjoy. Young Alex Hysick topped it off by a performance on her viola, bringing a roar of applause. The newly formed four-piece brass band captivated everyone with Christmas Carols, as the other musicians got ready for more. As always, the highly requested sing-a-long of Kolady completed the evening.
