Welcome to the crewguide area. All ships
that are part of NewWorlds follow the same guidelines to keep things on a
playing field. The information below is for all players to know form
beginners to veterans. This will help you in what you
need to know to play in a simms.
1) Uniforms worn by the current
crews of 2377 on all ships and stations.
Command
& Strategic Operations Uniforms
Security & Tactical Uniforms
Medical & Science Uniforms
New Engineering Uniforms
Ambassador & First Contact Specialist
Marine Uniforms
Intelligence Uniforms
Dress uniforms worn by all departments
Shuttle and Fighter pilot Uniforms
Environmental
under cover Uniforms
Cadet and Red Squadron Uniforms
2) How crewmembers address officers that
are of higher rank. The Formal way as it is called is by address the rank and
the persons last name. (ie. yes Captain Williams) Then there's the
informal ways but on two are standard. Like the one
above except you use just the rank (ie yes captain) or aye sir which
means "yes sir I understand and will obey". This is
come on most ships as it has much historical value as well as respect
to a senior officer.
3) Knowing your department area
is a must to be able to play properly. See the Operations Department for more
info
as per your area. If you have any other questions ask your department
head.
4) How to start and finish a post
regardless of size. All post on any ship should look the same as below.
The start of a post should have 2 parts. The Place and the area.
The place refers the ship, planet base and the area is
where your post is taking plce at like the holodeck or the bridge.
It should look like this:
<<USS Yamato>>
<ready room>
This lets others know where the post is happening and
if they can be involved or not. Also helps out in joint missions.
The ending of a post has 3 area's that most be in place
as to let other readers know Who wrote the post, the position
of the person writing it and the area of their position
that one's from. It should look like this.
Admiral James Kirkland
Commanding Officer
USS Yamato
These two items are a most for PBem and helps out. It
takes awhile to get use to but after you use it a few times you
will see why we do it this way. The main section well
left to the captain of the ship to teach, but most are script.
5) Promotions are a big area
that I see many fleets fail in and lose personal because of it. We use a point
system that
takes care of several area's at once. Each ship will have
a list of the active crew that will tell you hiw close you are to
your next promotion, service award or medals that you
may qualify for. This makes it fun and gives everyone a sense
that they are achieving something other than just writing
all the time.
6) Bio's are a nice thing
to have for your character and you should look up about your race or get someone
to help
you as this makes the game more fun for all to see and
read about other players. It gives your character life and can
make playing the game easier since other players know
what you like and dislike. So have some fun and build a bio.
