BRIEF HISTORY

1955, a chapel was built in the care of Fr. Victor de Clerck of Pasig
1963, Sto. Rosario de Pasig Parish was establish by decree of the late Rufino Cardinal Santos

1963 thru 1967: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Vicente M. Planta

Sto. Rosario was separated from the main parish, Immaculate Concepcion Church in Pasig

Parish priest stayed at the National Othopedic Hospital, since there was no rectory

In 1965, the Archbishop of Manila bought a 2,000 sq.m. land, where 2 hectares of which was donated to the parishes of Cainta and Sto. Rosario, for agricultural purposes

Fr. Planta oversaw the formation of different organizations like Legion of Mary, Catholic Women’s League, Young Christian Workers, etc.

1967 thru 1979: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Teodoro D. Perez

Parish priest stayed at the Immaculate Concepcion Parish in Pasig for half a year since there was still no rectory

Fr. Perez convinced the Cardinal to sell the land. The money left from paying the land was used for building the new church

Since the money left was not enough for the entire construction, additional money was raised from different fund-raising projects

Finally on February 25, 1967, a new Sto. Rosario Church was blessed by the late Rufino Cardinal Santos

2 years after, a conference room was added, connecting the church and the rectory

1979 thru 1983: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Alfredo C. Ganzon

Fr. Alfred concentrated in forming the “Leaders’ Formation”

1983 thru 1987: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Genaro Austria

Fr. Austria continued the church development

1987 thru 1991: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Julio Cesar M. Manalo

Fr. Manalo completed the plan of constructing a 3-storey building beside the church

1991 thru 1996: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Marcelo Rosalio C. Olaybal

Fr. Ross supervised the building of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel

Bishop Protacio G. Gungon blessed the chapel on September 4, 1992

The Adoracion Nocturna Filipina, Rosario Chapter, contributed to the improvements of the frontage of the church

Church repainting was completed

1996 thru present: Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Arnel F. Lagarejos

In his first year, Fr. Arnel oversaw the repainting of the altar and the improvement of the church

From the three fund-raising projects, he was able to remodel the entire church and the rectory

He revived the Parish Renewal Experience Seminar (PREX)

In August 1999, he registered the Sto. Rosario de Pasig Parish in the worldwide web
