Game Recap

You know the score - 3:3. But have you noticed the number of shots taken by each team? It's 34 by the Hammerheads against the Plague's 11 (eleven)! Now, let me ask you, does the score look right to you? I absolutely agree - it doesn't, but it's the fact. Add to this absurd that we were down 1:3 with 6 minutes to go in the game and you'll be completely puzzled with what was happening on the ice that night.

I can give you a couple of answers to that. We faced almost the same Plague team, same goalie as a week ago when we posted a 5:1 win against them. But the Plague's quality of hockey and desire to win were much higher this time around. Their goalie was magnificent stopping all 10 or so breakaways by Ryan Limaye. On the other side, two out of three Plague's goals were scored on the breakaways.

Yes, we were missing several key players, we were playing only 3 D's all night. But look at how many chances we had! We were still dominating the game and all the reasons we were not able to convert all of our chances only emphasize the good team play by our opponent.

On the positive part, I can say, that everyone fought until the very end and we were able to post a nice comeback in the last 5 minutes of the game. Ryan and Chris Juwono were able to keep their goal and assist streaks respectively uninterrupted. Both of them had points in each of the last 5 games.
