Game
Recap |
     The Hammerheads met
up with their old rivals, the Usual Suspects, for
game 7 at Belmont Iceland.
     This time they went
head to head against the Usual Suspects with
their complete roster including the addition of a
new player, Artem Mishin. Both
sides held tight all through the first period
with no scoring by either team as they adjusted
to play at Belmont.
It turned out to be a
rough, passion-filled game that only got worse as
the game went on. It started out innocent enough
with only one penalty to each side in the first
period, but then #21 on the Usual Suspects was
having a bad night. He got handed a 10-minute
game misconduct penalty only 5 minutes into the
second period. With Ryan Limaye
scoring the first goal of the game with help from
Brent Jenkins shortly
thereafter, it began a downhill slide for the
Usual Suspects as their frustration level went up
and playing ability went down. The Usual Suspects
managed to keep their head above water with a
goal to answer Ryan's, but then the pain began.
     As we entered the
third period it became obvious that the late
night was turning everyone into goons and the
referees were doing nothing to control it. Mostly
the period was characterized by roughing and
slashing from both teams. Chris Juwono,
assisted by Artem Mishin, managed to bring the
Hammerheads out ahead near the beginning of the
third despite the stick to his chin. Artem almost
had his first goal for the Hammerheads, but some
debate as to whether the puck actually went in
caused a face-off to occur within the Suspects'
zone. This was immediately followed by a
beautiful goal from Brent Jenkins. Ryan Limaye
pulled the puck away from the face-off right into
Brent's wide-open, waiting stick that rifled it
past the unsuspecting goalie. Must consternation
from Suspects' goalie, Mike Tait,
ensued, but nothing could stop the Hammerheads
now that they proved all it takes is hard work
and keeping your focus on the puck. Hammerheads
produced a win of 3:1 over the Usual Suspects.
