Recap |
HIGHLIGHTS:
     That's it. The season
is over and the Hammerheads have won their second
championship in as many seasons!
     In this playoff best
of 3 series the Hammerheads had a slight
advantage in front of the Usual Suspects. The
Hammerheads have won a division title and were
seeded as #1. According to the PHA rules, the
higher seed team should be declared a winner in
the game if it ends in a tie. This is a very
questionable rule but... that's what eventually
determined the fate of the Usual Suspects.
     After loosing the
first game 1:5, the Usual Suspect had to come up
with everything they've got to prevent the series
ending. And at first it seemed they were about to
succeed. They scored a quick goal (less than 2
minutes into the game) and then were holding to
the lead with all their might. It was also the
first time in a season when the Hammerheads were
shut down for the first two periods.
     Finally in third
period, when the Usual Suspects were on a penalty
kill, Chris Juwono scored a golden
goal for the Hammerheads. With a nice shot
from the left circle he buried a puck into the
far top corner of the goal. The game was tied at
1:1 and the Hammerheads on the wings of a success
outshoot the Suspects 8-4 in the third and 2-0 in
overtime and didn't really allow them a chance to
create a scoring opportunity.
     The tie in the game
gave the Hammerheads their second championship.
And it's a deserved one! During the long season
everyone on the Hammerheads lived with a team
spirit and played hard every game.
Congratulations!
     Season break is less
than a month long, so don't go away far. Look for
the Hammerheads next Summer 2002 season!
