![]() Obviously, Mars is where the Biker Mice are from (otherwise, it would just be called "Biker Mice"). Once a beautiful planet covered in green grasses and trees, just as hospitable as Earth (well, to the native species, anyway), it was ravaged by the Plutarkians years ago during the Plutarkian War. Today, the red planet is on the rebound, thanks to the efforts of the Freedom Fighters. Mars is populated by three major races; the Martian mice (properly referred to as Cave Mice), rats, and Sand Raiders (a hyena-like race). The mice were virtually wiped out during the war, and are largely considered extinct. Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie want very badly to return some day, but more premanently than in "Back to Mars" (also, without the whole "Carbine tring to kill them" thing). Fans should note that the writers of Biker Mice tended to be very accurate in their depictions of Mars; Olympus Mons, Tharsis Rise and its volcanoes, and the frequent dust storms that arise on the planet's surface are all real. Plus, they're all really in the southern regions of Mars--the South Polar country Throttle mentions in "The Verminator." Kudos to the writers for their attention to detail! Brimstone A city located in the South Polar region of Mars, occupied (primarily? entirely?) by Martian mice. This is the futuristic ville seen in the opening of "Once Upon a Time On Mars Part One." The Freedom Fighters managed to save the ravaged city after the Army failed in its attempts, but it was later surrendered to the Plutarkians because of massive bribes to the Martian government. The loss of Brimstone played a large part in Stoker's loss of faith in the war during "OUTOM." This may or may not be the city occupied by the present-day Freedom Fighters near Olympus Mons. Check out the beginning of "Back to Mars Part Two", and see what you think. Given the proximity of the city to the chain of volcanoes which include Olympus Mons, it's a good bet. Monastery/Original Freedom Fighter Headquarters Hidden beneath a secluded monastery in Mars' South Polar region, the former Freedom Fighters' HQ is probably best remembered for being blown to bits at the end of "Once Upon a Time On Mars Part Two." Before that, though, it was also a marvel of covert warfare. We're never told just how the motley crew of warriors came to share apartment space (so to speak) with a group of monks, but it was definitely a good deal for the Freedom Fighters. The monestary itself was relatively remote, atop a high set of mountain peaks, making it fairly safe from ground attacks (not from air attacks, though, unfortunately). Freedom Fighter HQ was located just below the buildings where the monks went about their holy business, tucked away into large, cavelike rooms within the mountains themselves. The whole place was rigged with hidden doors and secret passages, so that if someone were to chance upon one door and find their way partially inside, they could not penetrate the whole way in. This location was also handy in that it allowed the Freedom Fighters to launch their attacks on the Plutarkians seemingly out of nowhere, then retreat to safety without their foes having the slightest clue as to where their headquarters was. Well, at least until they were betrayed by Mace (and Stoker, if you wanna get technical). The place was abandoned after the attack, forcing the Freedom Fighters to relocate; first, to Alternate Post #14, then to the new current base at Olympus Mons. Olympus Mons/New Freedom Fighter Headquarters The home base of the Freedom Fighters after the Monastery is destroyed by Mace and Stoker's attack. Located near the slopes of Olympus Mons, the solar system's largest volcano/mountain, the new headquarters is contained within the remains of a ruined city (possibly Brimstone, although that's never stated). It seems to be a very highly militarized place, as we never see families or mice farming or doing anything else (not that they'd have much luck in Mars' blighted soil). Only a few places within this HQ have been seen: the conference room Carbine takes Throttle to, the jail the Biker Mice and Limburger are temporarily imprisoned in, the Garden of Hope, and the just-as-painful-as-it-sounds Pit of Everlasting Doom ("Back to Mars" Parts Two and Three). Hey, those last two are kinda ironic. Almost all of the remaining Martian mouse population is housed within this area. Obviously, this can be both a help and a hindarance, as it on one hand keeps the last remnants of this dying people together, but also means that the entire race (well, almost) can be destroyed in one shot (which Limburger very nearly does). The Garden of Hope Part of the Freedom Fighter base, near the bottom of Mons Olympus. Before the Biker Mice return and bring water back to Mars, this was one of the last places on Mars where plants could and do grow. Carbine sees it as the symbol of her mission to bring Mars back to what it once was ("Back to Mars Part Two"). With the introduction of water and the slow blooming of the entire planet, the signifigance of the Garden is lost a bit, but it will certainly always be remembered as the place where the planet's rebirth began. Alternate Post #14 One of the fortified meeting points the Freedom Fighters set up in case their headquarters at the monastery should ever be discovered or come under fire. This is where the Biker Mice and Harley regroup after Stoker and Mace's attack in "Once Upon a Time On Mars Part Two." Basically, it's a cave with some supplies and a VidCom that doesn't always work (remember the shock Rimfire got?). However, because of the tracking transceiver in Harley's bike, the Plutarkians, led by Stoker, are able to find where the remaining fighters are hiding and attack them here, starting another battle. Also where Stoker is finally able to fight off Stilton's mind control for keeps (both in "Once Upon a Time On Mars Part Three"). After this, it seems that this post was abandoned, although it may still serve today's Freedom Fighters in the same fashion. Stilton's Castle Residence and home base of Plutarkian Dominic T. Stilton. Located somewhere in the Southern regions of Mars, Stilton's castle appears to be made largely of stone, with a constant Sand Raider guard to protect it from intruders. It's also home to Lawrence Limburger and Karbunkle during the Plutarkian War. This is where the Freedom Fighters are taken after the disastrous battle near Tharsis Rise to be converted into an army of bionic soldiers by Karbunkle ("Once Upon a Time On Mars Part Two"; also the flashback in "The Verminator"). Throttle, Modo, Vinnie, Stoker, and Carbine return here to free their (once again) captured comrades during "Once Upon a Time On Mars Part Three". The building is demolished by the falling Tug Transformer, but has probably been rebuilt since then. Like Limburger Tower, it is a monument to Stilton's pride, greed, and ambition. Tharsis Rise Volcano One of the many volcanoes along the surface of the Tharsis bulge (Olympus Mons is counted among their number). This was where the Plutarkians hid their Tug Transformer as they prepared to move Mars into orbit around Plutark. The Freedom Fighters launched an attack on the Plutarkian encroachment in the area, with disastrous results ("Once Upon a Time On Mars Part One"). A second attempt on the part of Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie (with some help from Rimfire) ended better, with the Tug Transformer being cut loose from the face of Mars and sent flying. Cocono Canyon Where the Plutarkians first aggressively began their theft of Mars' resources. Described as Limburger as once being "a rich and verdant paradise", it is now a barren chasm with nary a hint of plant or animal life. This is also the escape route Limburger and his henchmen take from Freedom Fighter Headquarters (Olympus Mons) to the Sand Raider camp ("Back to Mars Part Two"). Red Rim Pass The small canyon that leads away from Freedom Fighter headquarters. This is where the Biker Mice are ambushed on their way to rescue Carbine in "Once Upon a Time On Mars Part One." Main
