Indy retrieving a pheasant...

We purchased "Indy" from Crosscreek Kennels in Indiana. Her sire is HRCH Clipper's Dakota Hunter and her dam is HR Double Chocolate Mocha. Both her sire and dam are from top field lines.
Indy is a solidly built dog. She is very muscular with a beautiful broad head, and she has a fantastic coat. She is medium brown in color. I would estimate her weight at about 75 pounds. Her hips and eyes are certified, as are all of our dogs. Her hips are in the 90th percentile based on the Pennhip evaluation. In other words, her hips are perfect.
Indy is how most people picture a Chessie. She is very much a one family type of dog. By that I do not mean she's aggressive. She is a very gentle dog, but she will have little to do with anyone but myself and the rest of the family. She's a dog that has to be with me. When I mow the lawn, she will walk along behind me as I mow. Chessies are known for bonding very closely to the family they live with and Indy exemplifies this to the nth degree. She gets along very well with other dogs, as do all of my dogs. She is an easy going, laid back type of dog when not in the field but that all changes when she sees a bird or a training dummy.
Indy is totally obsessed with hunting and retrieving. She has retrieved directly to hand since she was a little pup. The same goes for her love of the water...I can't keep her out of it. I think she'd rather swim and retrieve than eat. Typical of many Chessies, she has been slow to mature and has a definite stubborn streak in her. She likes doing things her way, which again is typical Chessie. She marks extremely well and has a good mouth...not too hard and not too soft. She is a quality Chessie in all respects.
