| Chapter Eleven I let the dog wander back out of the cave, that way it could let the searchers know where we were. It was getting darker and I was worried we wouldn't get rescued until the morning, and I wanted to get out as soon as possible. Now all we had to do was wait. Scott began to hum some old rock song. I smiled, comforted that he was the one I had spent these long, cold, and tiring 5, almost 6 days with. "Whitney," Scott said, suddenly stopping his humming. "Yeah?" I asked, looking up at him. "Thanks," he simply replied. "For what?" I asked, shifting my weight to the other leg. "For doing just what Mum told you to. For looking after me, for taking care of me, for being hardcore." Scott smiled. I laughed a bit. "I get that from you, you know," I told him. "I know," he said. "We're gonna get out of here and get you fixed up, I promise," I said, gently touching his leg. Scott shrugged. "I know." ~*~*~*~*~ The sixth day came. I was disappointed when I found myself waking up, laying against Scott. I was so weak from not eating, I didn't even attemt to get up. We had been eating some snow periodically, trying to fill our bodies up with water. It wasn't enough though, and we were taking the toll. Scott woke up as well. "I hate waking up to this," he said. "I know," I sighed. His eyes widened. "What?" I asked, looking at him. "I hear something," he said, looking toward the entrance. I stood up. "I swear, you have ears like a dog, Scott," I laughed. Sure enough, here comes the massive dog from yesterday. "Its back," I turned to Scott. He smiled. Behind the dog, coming up the mountain were 2 men in bright red jackets who waved as they came toward the cave. "And he brought guests," I quietly said. Chapter Twelve... |
